1) Message boards : climateprediction.net Science : Any updates to the actual science? (Message 27243)

As time progresses, CPDN is processing years at an alarmingly fast rate.

Todays fastest desktop PC\'s are like the supercomputers of 7-8 years ago.

What impacts does this have to the science?

Will we just be doing more \'years\' with the same set of rules and data? Is it possible that we could be doing more thorough science? What are we *not* calculating that we could throw in for more precise numbers?

I\'ve got 6 minutes left in my first complete model, I\'m sooooo Excited!

And I don\'t care how pathetic that sounds. I\'m stoked.

Now 99.999%!!!!

OK.. Now I\'m @ 100.00%, and time to complete ----.--.--

How long does post-processing take?

I\'ve been attempting to contact the people on the BOINC BETA (Seti Beta) boards about implementing a method for the client to request more time for work if it is nearing it\'s expiration date for reasons similar to this. (although maybe not for this particular reason!)

HOWEVER - Everyone keeps calling me crazy, claiming that \"computers would never have enough work cached locally to pass the deadlines.. \" personally I wonder about what has happened to the calibur of beta testers in the past couple years...

It appears that by doing a restart of the system AFTER installing BOINC 5.2.5 or later, this has been solved.

I can\'t get BOINC to attach to the project.

When I run the *NEW* POS Attach To Project wizard, it asks me for the URL to the project, I enter \"http://climateprediction.net\". It then says \"Communicating with project, please wait...\" then it brings up the Window saying \"Proxy configuration\".

I am not using a Proxy server. if I enter nothing, it just brings me back to this window if I click next. How do I fix this?
10) Message boards : climateprediction.net Science : Problems attaching to project. (Message 71)

I am having problems attaching to the project.

I enter in the project URL of http://climateprediction.net

and my account ID and I am getting the error message from boinc - BOINC failed to log in to http://climateprediction.net/. Please check your account ID and try again.

In the messages tab, it says I must be using major client version 4.

To the best of my knowledge, the latest PUBLIC version of the BOINC core, as issued by the SETI/BOINC site is 3.20.

I have reservations about downloading version 4 from your website, if the Berkeley staff have not released 4 on their end.

Of course, who really knows what version they are actually running, as their website has been virtually unavailable for the past 2-3 weeks.
