1) Questions and Answers : Windows : BOINC core client version (Message 4879)

I think a slight clarification here might be useful.

The Predictor project is down at the moment, while they port their software to Version 4 of BOINC. They are not issuing work units (WU's) regardless of the client software you are running.

It won't do any harm to keep your client attached to the Predictor project, when Predictor does move to BOINC V.4 then your client will then automatically pick up WU's for you for this project.

This may not be that far away, as I know that an Alpha test of the Predictor V4 software is due to start in the very near future. Also, Predictor is one of the better BOINC projects for keeping us informed of bugs and updates, keep an eye on the 'Current Progess' section of the Predictor web site for curent news on the project.
2) Questions and Answers : Windows : How to tell cp.net about orphaned WU\'s? (Message 4877)

I have been having a few issues with one of my PC\'s that is crunching for cp.net with crashes and BSOD\'s.

I noticed yesterday that it had restarted BOINC, effectively doing a \'reset project\' for all of the projects I was working on. I suspect that the \'client_state.xml\' has been corrupted and BOINC has rebuilt an empty one. This was most annoying as the CP WU I was working on was over 30% completed. Checking in the BOINC directories, it looks like I have had more than one crash of the \'client_state.xml\' file, as there is another orphaned WU in there as well.

I don\'t think I will be able to restart crunching of these WU\'s from their current state, but given the long deadlines for these WU\'s I was wondering if there is a mechanism for letting cp.net know when we find a WU is orphaned, or if they do this automatically, given that they normally only issue one WU to each client?
