1) Questions and Answers : Windows : Comments for \'Generic solutions to models\' sticky (Message 22289)

Post:
hi there,

as it was told in a linked thread, i tryed the solution with the updated graphics-driver.

my mashine produced some -1073741819 (0xc0000005) errors, but prime95 was stable over 24hours.
a new driver (catalyst 5.9 (the last without ccc) for the Radeon7000) solved the problem (as it seems).

but: what the heck does the gravicsdriver to cdpn?
and why does this error appears just now?

Post:
Hi,

since a new layout of the \"Your account\"-pages the trickle-pages of the computers are only reachable in 5 klicks.

since the new HadCM3L-Models i can\'t find any informations when and how often a mashine trickled.

My whish:
a table in bottom of the \"Your account\"-Page, where the last ~25 recived trickles are listed.
so i can check with low effort whether my mashines are trickeling and how many timestaps per second was been computed.

... this \"feature\" was already implemented in the page but was eliminated - why?

Post:
You can recover a fair bit of space by deleting the folders of all the models that crashed.

can\'t this be done automaticly?
I\'m not workin on all of my computing machines, so that I can\'t steady delete the directorys.
it would be nice, when at least the folder of the second last model would be deleted, when a new model is downloading.

this computer ist unable to compute climatepredictions!
i have updated to version 5.2.13 jet - after this he dad downloaded sulphur_data_4.22_windows_intelx86.zip with all of its more than 20Mb (not really nice, with traffic-restrictions of a volume-flat!)

but it hadn\'t worked ... after less than one hour of work, this computer has no chance left as ideling ...

is this a problem of the parameters or my computer?
if this is a problem of the parameter, the restrictions of two models per day should be set out, till this bunch of files is blowed up.

hallo everyone,

i know, that this problem is discussed more often as it\'s good for me.
but never was the problem like mine:

i have boinc for running cdpn only. no other projects, no other CPU-expensive applications.

in first part of this logfile, i have played with some hints of this forum.
suspending work and activate later etc.

but my problem is still there. - after some minutes of work boinc stops to compute the model for doing NOTHING.

System: Boinc5.2.13 with sulphur 4.22-modell
boinc is running as service - installed by admin
WinXP SP2
Hardware: P4-3.0GHz with HT enabled

what should i do?

greetings, michael

Post:
hi,

it is a wish to boinc.

some of my running mashines are at work.
they are P4 wit HT enabled.
but due better working and more acceptance it runs only one model per machine.

is it possible to manage, that boinc let automatic a second model run in a configurable time?

for excample:
the server runs 24/7. monday to friday from 7 to 17 o\'clock it get quite hi cpu-load from the server\'s applications. in the other time it is rather ideling.

one CP-Model runs this 24/7 ans the overal-cpuload is 70-80% (50 by Boinc, rest by server-applications)
in case, it seems to a user, that theserver ist quite slow, he looks at the cpu-load and get the 80% - ok, he says, it is cpu-load left, the slowness is\'n made by cpu-overload.

because of this, it is not realy good, to let two models run, because the second model at the virtual CPU will cause 50% more \"virtual\" CPU-load.
It is not possible, that I switch the second process off an on by hand.

I want, that (for excample) from 7 to 17 o\'clock the second model is switched off.
how can I (or you, guys) manage that by preferences?

greets, micha

Hi,

... Topic = Problem

what password is whished, if I want log on \'localhost\' with BOINC-Manager?
My Win-Account (WinXP home) hasn\'t a password (I know, thats not realy clever, but it is WinXP home-standard).

the first login after the update to 5.2.2 was working, but the try a day after (today) doesn\'t.

what should I do, except of using win-password?

Hi there.

for a time I\'ve got a softwareproblem with Boinc/CDPN.
one of my mashines (host 179231) downloades WUs without to save one.
as i\'ve recognized the problem, i could fix the issue.
now my resultspage contains about 100 WUs, that was been downloaded and never would be computed.

please remove this WUs from my account and give them free for computing by other members.

thank you.

13) Questions and Answers : Windows : exiting project after request of benchmarks (Message 14482)
Posted 18 Jul 2005 by Profile gandhi
Post:
while ab few days both of my 24/7-maschines gave the same problem: no trickles for more than one day

over the weekend i recognized this, and thougt, that this could be caused by the internetconnection.

just now i saw this in the message-box:
---------------------------
2005-07-14 15:08:14 [---] Suspending computation and network activity - running CPU benchmarks
2005-07-14 15:08:14 [climateprediction.net] Pausing result 14ti_200073453_0 (removed from memory)
2005-07-14 15:08:16 [---] Running CPU benchmarks
2005-07-14 15:08:24 [---] Aborting CPU benchmarks, one or more active tasks are still running.
2005-07-14 15:08:24 [---] Resuming computation and network activity
2005-07-14 15:08:24 [---] request_reschedule_cpus: Resuming activities
2005-07-14 15:08:25 [---] request_reschedule_cpus: process exited
-------------------------

the one maschine dis this at July 14h, the other even at 13th.

why this happened, what can i do, that i haven\'t to look after the processes day by day?

systems:
this computer:
#46462 - WinXP, P4-2.66GHz, 512Mb RAM, 55Gb free Diskspace
other:
#179231 - Win2003Server, P4-3.0GHz HT, 1024mB Ram, 4Gb free diskspace

> I guess we'll probably know by the next UTC day when it is allowed to download

carl: i really don't know what it was happened to this computer.

i think i've reinstalled boinc 4.19 one time, because it was kicked from the harddisc by a user. ("server2k3.roessler.gera" was formaly known as "51323" or so (last three numbers was surely 323) - it was merged with the new UIN) this was at June 10th.

but for upgrade to 4.45 i had to deinstall the 4.19th version, could anything gone wrong to the new version?

Post:
> Checked the work for Host ID# 179231. (Stopped scrolling at 80, 8 per day for
> many days.) All are shown as In Progress/Unknown/New -- which doesn't help
> much.
>
> Are there any other error messages? In stderr.txt in Slots? In
> Projects/CPDN.../Model# folders, any of the stderr/stdout.txt files?
>
> Did something change with that machine in June?
>
> Edit: Went back and checked the fifth page of models for 179231. Odd thing
> after your last good entries: Two Models downloaded on 28 June, followed by 8
> on 27 June and 8 more 28 June, and 8 more each day following. How did the
> date change, one wonders...?

Post:
system: Windows Server 2003
CPU: P4-3.0 HT
Freespace on HDD: more than 5 Gb
Boinc-Version: 4.19 and 4.45

since June 29 is the last WU complete, sindce June 27 Boinc tries to download a WU.
today I\'ve updated tu 4.45, the error continues: something like \"server-message: limit of 8 models per day reached\" or equal.

what can i do., that the machine is working again?

Post:
I\'ve running a P4-2600 with HT and 1Gig DDR-Ram.
Because it is a office-computer and need to get used uniformly continuous, I decided to use only one of the processors.
(especially M$ Outlook gets jerky as two processes where running)
this machine, running about 10h a day, computes ~2,2 sec/timestep.

now my question:
in my boincstats this machine benches with:
flt: 1409.5 million ops/sec
int: 1658.3 million ops/sec

(to compare: P4-2,53 nonTH 512Mb DDR-Ram:
flt: 1565.9 million ops/sec
int: 3613 million ops/sec)

the second machine is not even more running than the other one.
why gets the first one an av.credit of 57 and the second one 235 ?

greets, /me

hi,

i'm running P4-2,533GHz (512Mb DDR333 cl2,5, WinXP) with 2,60TS/s ... that ist quite small, i think.

now i want to compare with the original CPDN-software. the stats for this machine from the statspage:
Machine Name HAL9000
Total Model Years 135.024
Total CPU Days 89.422
Total Petacycles 19.325
Completed Full Runs 3
Completed Short Runs 0

how to compute avg. TS/s from this variables?

thanks

every 6th timestep takes about 8 times of computingtime than all other.

is it normal, or is it because of leak in Memory-Bandwith?
(AMD Duron 1300 - 265Mb SDRAM)

greets
