Just tried to run another task which aborted with computation error. I'd like to help the project but there doesn't seem to be much point running it on MACs.

Hi Les! Thanks for the info. Does this apply to all the hadam3p models? Looks like I will have to restrict processing to hadcm3n for now.

I've always had problems with the reliability of ClimatePrediction on my Mac. I recently had a task running since June and failed at well over 80%. Am I wasting my resources or is this useful to the project. I am seriously considering whether I should abandon ClimatePrediction. I don't have these issues with SETI or Rosetta.

Hi Les,
Event log does not mention trickles and is not much help. Is anyone else geting credit on this model or has someone forgotten to add trickles to it? :-)

Thanks for the thread reference but that seems to be about external stats sites. I'm looking at the stats from boinc manager and the cpdn website.I'm assuming they are pretty authoritative. I will just let these tasks run and see what happens.

Hi! I now have a task over 9% complete and no credit. Seems that something is not working. Are there any logs I can check?

I also had a failed task with 23,375.33 cpu sec and no credit. It seems like there is a problem here. I'm not too fussed about my credit but it could put off some people!!!

The HADAM3P Australia New Zealand models seem to be absolutely huge. presumably that's why the deadline is 21st March 2015. This is running on a MAC which I also use for video editing so I need the resource hence the suspend events. The machine is turned off quite a bit as I also use other machines.

I'll just let the tasks run and see what happens.

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the confidence booster. It just seemed after a month and a half there should have been some credits. The most advanced is at 11:42:19 elapsed and 143:08:46 so should be almost there.

I'll give it a while longer.

I have been running climate CPDN for many years without significant issues. In April 5 HADAM3P Australia New Zealand v6.10 tasks were downloaded. Since then no credits have been allocated. One task has has failed and the other 4 have over 9 hours of elapsed time. I run other projects on the same machine and they are fine.

I\'ve finally had a successful trickle. Because of space issues I had moved the projects directory to another file system and linked to it with a symbolic link. After freeing up some space and moving the projects directory back it works. It seems something does not like symbolic links.

I ran a packet capture while it was doing the and the only traffic was between port 80 on climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk. and my local port.

Thanks for your help.

I\'ve run SETI too with no problem. Of course SETI does not use the trickle mechanism. I\'ve re-installed BOINC 5.4.9 and started a new model. Now at 1.16%, 07/10/1922 and no sign of trickles. No comminication messages, good or bad, in boinc manager messages tab. I haven\'t found any messages indicating a communication problem. Model files download ok (using port 80?).

Credits are granted for trickles received by the servers. No trickles, no credit.
And the server says that you haven\'t sent any trickles.

Perhaps you have a comms problem, and all of the trickle_up_ files are accumulating in the folders of the two models that you have attempted.

Always a possibility! Are there any logs I can check. I\'ve looked in most of the likely places but can\'t see anything but as I\'m new to CPDN I\'m not sure what to look for.

There are firewalls in between but can\'t see any problems in the logs there. What is required? Server, UDP/TCP, port number? HTTP to anywhere should be OK.

Is there a script or moddule that does the trickle?

Thanks.

I\'ve been running the model for a while now and no credits show up on the project web site. I\'ve looked in all the usual places and can\'t see any errors. Stats show model to be 1.38% complete.

Machine is running Fedora Core 5.
