Newbie guide to setting up under Linux
(Message 22723)
Posted 11 May 2006 by old_user139335 Post: I cannot find a basic guide to setting up Boinc under Linux. I downloaded the .sh file and ran it - but I was a bit nervous about running an executable blind. It seems suspiciously easy for Linux!! I ran the Boincmgr executable and got the GUI, attached to a project and got going. However, when I closed the window it shut the whole thing down. It also lost the work - but I guess that was because I had got less than 1% of it done? I normally run this machine at run level 3 to save memory. I assume that I should start one of the programs (Boinc or Boincmgr) at reboot from the crontab but which should I run? Are there any command line options? Cheers Tim. |
