Last larger batch of work for windows was at Jan 18-19. It lasted about 30 hours before it was gone. The ready to send queue peak was about 9000 tasks. Look here: http://ob.cakebox.net/cpdn_status/server_status.html It is a graphical view of server status with history included.

What is the situation of the new project url with https? When will the http url be expired? Now that we don't have any new tasks for windows or linux would be good to change that address if the old one will become obsolete soon.

My RAC has drastically decreased but should be raising soon enough after playing with the config for CPDN.

I am not sure where CPDN sits in the tables for credit for time spent crunching. I know it isn't at the top but I suspect there are probably projects below it as well.

This comparison https://boinc.netsoft-online.com/e107_plugins/boinc/get_cpcs.php would suggest that CPDN gives less credits per CPU second compared to just about any other project. Probably it doesn't list all projects and includes projects using GPUs as well. At least it is missing the comparison between LHC and CPDN which are both CPU only projects that I participate in.

If they really need to get those Linux tasks done, they could think about the VirtualBox environment of Boinc. Do what LHC@home is doing and create Linux VirtualBox machines with everything set up the way they want and need, and send them to the users for running. This could solve the 32 bit libraries problem as well.
46) Message boards : Number crunching : Scheduler request too recent (Message 61888)

I recall that the project does not actually use/need the deadlines. They are there just because BOINC environment requires to have one. The project wants to have the results returned asap but not all results are required to make meaningful science. The results will probably go through some statistical analysis before being used. When workunits, that are sent out again in case first recipient did not return it by deadline, they often have download errors because original files were already deleted from the server. This suggest to me that not all results are vital (otherwise they would not have been deleted) but of course if more results are returned in timely fashion it is better.

Yep, many projects want to have the cake and eat it too.

The suffering people in South Africa, Brasil, Iceland, Greenland, Australia, also Germany, and some dozen more countries disagree.
For example: The melting glacier and ice in Greenland is melting today five times faster than in the early 1990. And the loss of ice accelerates.
Is it correct as recapitulation, that after 30 years of ignorance, there is not much more time left?

The timescale we are talking about in distributed computing is irrelevant compared to how long it takes to make decisions about acting on climate change and it's consequences.

<soapbox> Which begs the question: If the people hoarding work units are not in this for the science but are in it for the points and if the points are meaningless outside of a scientific context then why are they bothering at all? The entire point of distributed computing projects is to get as many people as possible working to produce usable data as fast as possible. That is why I think CPDN specifically and BOINC in general need to take a step away from awarding points solely based on raw computational requirments and take a step towards giving bonus points for quick turnaround times. Look at Folding@Home. They have a Quick Return Bonus for certain work loads. This QRB helps them ensure a high level of constant turnaround from the people that are in it just for the points. If someone comes along that is just doing DC projects to advance the science (like me and several others on these forums) then they will be just as happy with the QRB as they would be without it or even without any points at all. </soapbox>

I disagree with you. In distributed computing the goal is to get results with the lowest possible cost. Time is not important. If you want to do it fast, use your own supercomputer or cluster.

I see that the website now has a new look. Unfortunately it is missing the pull-down menu for 'Project' to access your Account and Preferences. Hope this gets fixed soon. (The same look is used for example in LHC@home, so I knew what to search for.)

The trickles are appearing OK on my hadam4 tasks.

If the model that you're talking about is this one, then there WON'T be any more trickles showing. Or credits for it.

This is a well known and long standing bug, that was finally solved late last year.
The project people know about it, and have it in hand for fixing.

But at the moment, the work is concentrated on the new hadam4 model, and IT'S bug.

Yes, that's the one. It is now at 50%. I'll let it finish anyway.

I think that the credit script has just run as my RAC has dropped today. No new credits were awarded as no trickles has been logged to my tasks pages (they were uploaded but are not visible here). Also the recent lack of work is a part of this situattion (only one task currently crunching).
