And Boinc Stats only shows those people who have allowed their stats to be exported to external stats sites. If you look the statistics here on this site (Computing -> Credit statistics -> Top participants) and sort the values by Total credit, you'll see that there are actually about 550 people who have done more work than you.

Then if it's at all possible make the checkpoints closer together.

In the computing preferences menu item in "Options" there is a box :-checkpoint at most every.... seconds".

This option can only increase the time between checkpoints, not decrease it. The checkpoint interval is coded into the application, Boinc client can't force checkpoints to happen.

Those that know how to properly run a BOINC server system would issue a Server Abort signal and that would never happen.

I think that server abort signal works only for tasks that has not been started crunching yet. Or is there a separate signal for 'Forced Abort'?

You could try some of the logging options with a cc_config.xml file. Here's the description page for them: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration

Hi Les.... Damn, I haven't gotten any tasks in a Martian year, maybe a Saturnian year. How can I get some jobs? There are jobs available on the server.

Sending this from my present location: Ballooning over Greenland watching the glaciers melt.

Thanks in advance

The current work is for Linux only.

You need to give your consent that the project can send your statistics to external stats sites. Here: https://www.cpdn.org/prefs.php?subset=project

The trouble is your 1 year deadline is making my Boinc client put them on the back burner and do other tasks with shorter deadlines. I've had to manually suspend Primegrid tasks to let yours continue. Mind you that's also the fault of Boinc/Primegrid for giving me 3 weeks of processing to do when my buffer is set to 3 hours!

Boinc is designed to run tasks in FIFO order so that shorter deadline tasks don't take over the resources (CPU/GPU). Only exception is if Boinc thinks that a task is going to miss the deadline, then that task is expedited. But this happens only about 1 -1½ days before the deadline.

There's quite a few batches of those, with only a small number left in each one.
I had a look at a few; some are "stuck", but some have just started running, and are returning trickles.

I'll see what the project thinks about wiping everything.

It would be great if some clean up happens. I have one orphaned Full Resolution Ocean since 2014 in my "In progress" web tab and set to expire in 2023. I'm almost there.

Can they do the wiping as they need to have all the old tasks available when counting the credits? So nothing can be purged?

Do you have this setting enabled on you computing preferences: 'Leave non-GPU tasks in memory while suspended'? This should be set on as cpdn tasks usually don't like to be stopped and restarted from the last checkpoint. In this case tasks usually just error out but do not stop whole windows. Also make sure that the CPU temperatures don't get too high while processing.

Really don't understand the concern about "no posting" with a low RAC.
I'm a Mac user and the last job I was able to work on was in March, 2019. My RAC is 0.00 and yet I am still able to post...

Good that this has been taken care of. Boinc servers have had as a default rule to not allow to post in forums unless you have RAC > 1. That was to prevent junk posts from users who are not interested to do their bit for the project.

This post is directly about the absence of new work for Windows machines, but about posting on these boards. Because no work has been available for some time now my RAC is now closing to 1 (1.69 currently) I am getting close to the limit when I can no longer post to the forums. I think the normal limit is that you have to have RAC >= 1 to post here. I hope that the limit is removed or lowered before Win only user are ruled out from posting here. The questions and answers section should be without this restriction, but that doesn't seem to exist in the current version of message boards.

(If this isn't a good thread for this, please feel free to move this post to an appropriate thread.)

There has been some changes as the server status page has a different layout now and the cakebox graphics don't understand the tables for tasks in progress for different sub-projects.

I don't know where Boinc gets these cache values, but my I7-7820X shows here to have 256 KB cache and wikipedia shows L2 = 8 x 1024 KiB and L3 = 11 MiB.

So the server status page shows that there are about 63000 tasks in progress. But the sum of the individual sub-projects is below 45000. Does anybody know where the discrepancy comes from? I know that I have tasks on my list showing still 'In progress' although they were finished ages ago but server never acknowledged them finished usually because of some server side problems.
