1) Questions and Answers : Windows : New Win98 or Win ME or Win NT4 Users Please Post Here! (Message 5177)

Carl,
I have seen problems twice on my Windows Me machine, but am trying to find out why - I am not sure the the dotNet framework is correctly installed, and so have been investigating.
I have also noticed another thread showing problems with WindowsMe <a href="http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=1029">here</a>

I should say that my Windows NT4 SP6a machine is working at CPDN nicely (although a little slowly, lol)

I should point out that as a SETI alpha tester I am using BOINC v4.11 on all machines.

I hate to be the one to spoil the party, but in a recent email from Carl Christensen we were advised that support for Windows Me, 98 and NT4 had now been resolved:

Hello,

Forgive the email, but in case you were trying to run climateprediction.net on a Win98, WinME, or Win NT4 machine and did not have success, we have identified and corrected a bug in the Fortran code that was preventing older operating systems from being able to run.

So if you "Reset", or "Detach" and re-"Attach" to climateprediction.net using your CPDN/BOINC authenticator key, it should get this new version (4.04) of Windows code that will run fine on 98/ME/NT4.

If you have any problems, or if you want to report success (or failure) please do not hesitate to contact myself or Tolu Aina (tolu@atm.ox.ac.uk) via email.

Sincerely,

Carl Christensen

This means that these problems should not occur. I have been seeing the same problems, but assumed that is was because I have not installed the MS .Net framework onto that machine (or had the incorrect version) I am still testing this theory.

I have seen a few corrupted files on this Windows Me machine which are not BOINC or CPDN related, and am still trying to pin down the cause and what they affect, but will post with results.

I can confirm no problems on my NT4 machine as of yet.

Based on JM's answer - are you attached to any other projects besides CPDN?

4) Questions and Answers : Windows : BOINC GUI Diagnostic Error (Message 4201)

Post:
This sounds like it could be a permissions issue like BOINC cannot create the output log-file because the permissions on the machine are preventing it from doing so.

I have not got XP Home edition here, but have XP Pro. Do you have a number of user accounts on the machine? If so is the one you are loggin in as a restricted user?

5) Questions and Answers : Windows : Version number confusion (Message 149)
Posted 6 Aug 2004 by old_user129
Post:
I have downloaded and am using the version of BOINC from CPDN website which on the website is marked as version 4.02.
The confusion is that when I click on Help, About in the Windows GUI it shows as version 4.03
So which version is it? Is the website incorrect?

6) Questions and Answers : Getting started : Debug files for BOINC Core Client and CPDN App (Message 60)

Post:
As a tester for the S@h Beta and Alpha tests I have got used to downloading the .pdb debug files for BOINC.
Are these available for download from the cpdn website as 4.02 is newer than any version I can download from the Berkeley websites?
