Thanks to you both,

I just wanted to be sure I gave it enough room to operate in. My preferences are set to allow 6GB for all my BOINC activity, as I am attached to multiple projects, but if needed I can push that up to 15GB. Looks like I will have plenty of room.

Thanks again.

Can someone please give me an estimate of how much hard drive space Climatepredition.net requires for a workunit?

I am asking because my current unit is only 7.28% complete and is currently taking up 543.80 MB.

I\'m running a sulphur cycle unit on Windows XP Pro SP2 using BOINC 5.2.13

Thanks.
4) Questions and Answers : Windows : Timesteps question (Message 18437)

Jim is correct. Your Account page, and the result page for the model, shows:

\"Time Sent (UTC\") \"Host ID\" \"Result ID\" \"Result Name\" \"Phase\" \"Timestep\" \"CPU Time (sec)\" and \"Average (sec/TS)\"

Your model, \"sulphur_ft47_000737575_0\", shows it is up to timestep 10,802

Hi Les,

I did look at my account after Jim said, but that gave the timestep at the time of the last trickle. I was looking for the current timestep. \"Thyme Lawn\" has shown me where to look.

Thanks for your time.

The timestep at the previous checkpoint is stored in the <TS> tag in the result XML file. In Mark\'s case the file is projects/climateprediction/sulphur_ft47_000737575.xml.

You can view the graphics in service mode if you\'re willing to change the service to local system account and set it to allow desktop interaction.

Thanks Thyme,

Thats what I was looking for.

Look at your acct....

Hi Jim,

I know that my account shows the current trickle count... I was asking about timesteps though. The reason is that it takes my pc several days to get to each trickle, and because I am basically nosy (and slightly impatient - I can admit it!) it would be nice to see how many timesteps have gone by. The normal graphics display this but as I am running BOINC as a service, the graphics are not available to me.

Hi,

Just a minor question...

I am running BOINC as a service (multi user pc), and as a result the graphics are not available.

My question is:-

Is it possible to find out how many timesteps have passed (or what stage the WU is at) other than the percentage complete showing in the BOINC client?

I don\'t mean in any dynamic way like the way the screensaver displayed, but just having a quick look somewhere occasionally to see.

I\'m only curious, if it can\'t be done then that is fine.

I\'m using BOINC 5.2.13 on Win XP pro SP2.

Thanks.

Hi Carl,

Thanks for your comment. The credit appeared overnight. I\'m not hung up on getting credit or anything like that! I was just initially unsure that my crunching was doing anything useful (or anything at all).

I will just have to be more patient!

Thanks again.

Hi Les,

Thanks for that info. The trickle left my machine several hours ago. I suppose I was expecting to see something like the other projects I do, such as

Claimed credit: anything but zero
Granted credit: pending

not just zero in both. I\'ll have another look tomorrow then, and give it time to update.

Thanks again

Hi,

I am new to this project, my first trickle finally went through, and when I checked my account it said that claimed credit is 0.00 for that trickle (obviously granted credit is also 0.00 as a result)

I have been reading the message boards and it says you get credit for each trickle. Is there a problem?

I\'m only asking because it took 17 hours to get to that first trickle, and the zeros in claimed credit was a little disheartening!

info in case it is needed....

Result ID is 1442910
Work Unit 946066
My computer ID is 303891

Boinc version 5.2.13 (running as service)
application sulphur_cycle 4.22

Windows XP Pro SP2 (multiple users)
CPU is AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2200+
