1) Message boards : Number crunching : Database faults/flaws now for a week (Message 21476)

I have noticed these messages in the top or bottom of various team statistic pages now for almost a week. Do these faults have influence on the statistics? Even if the do not I think messages like those beneath should be attended to. Or is this of no interest to anyone?

Example out of many:this page and the next...

Warning: fopen(../cache/f3/team_display.php_teamid%3D141%26sort_by%3Dexpavg_credit%26offset%3D40) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /websites/boinc/projects/cpdnboinc/html/inc/cache.inc on line 198

This was what I could see in the stats and graphs for our team - not the same thing as when the credits fly up and down by finishing a model.

This makes me very uninterested in ClimatePrediction.net as I'm fed up over the years with team shopping users.

It's very easy for a founder and an administrator of a project and a web site to turn interest from users on or off. One simply decides whether to create for instance statistics in your own lanugage or not.

One of the users of our BOINC teams left all the projects in anger and moved to some other teams. Peace!

Only in CPDN have we lost credit totals as well as recent average credits due to the departure.

I have never before seen total credits FALL. I thought the team credit rules in BOINC were to prevent team shopping.

So all credits 'earned' during a membership stays with the team in case of members leaving. On the ohter hand the team doesn't get already earned credits when a user joins the team.

It has been the case for the projects SETI@home, Einstein@home, Predictor@home and LHC@home. Tthe only exception from the above rule has been ClimatePrediction. Why is that?

Another time I must remember not to annoy a member, bvadr...

This user (ID 1208) of our team has no finished runs (I think), as he signed up August 25, 2004.

At Tue 07 Sep 07:22:14 2004 GMT 'ATOPH' was credited for 756 total points, equivalent to 6,25 Model-Years, with RAC 104.

Now see for yourself at his account http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/show_user.php?userid=1208

I'am being so detailed in an attempt to maybe help out here. But ATOPH of course isn't very happy with his new team rank :-(

I did that at first but found that this solution consumed a lot of virtual memory, so programs took an eternity to start. I just have 512 mb RAM on my 3200 XP+ pc. Default is that 75% memory is dedicated to BOINC. Isn't that an awful lot?

If I loose rather much work by this swapping between projects: isn't there a way to 'swap' manually. I mean is there a way to exit ONE project without loosing the current unit/model and then restart this project 24 hours later while exiting the second project and so on?

Better safe than sorry, so one hour for CPDN/BOINC will for sure bring me to the next timestep?

I haven't had any trickles sent since yesterday 29th August 18:38:02 UTC. Prefs are 100 for CPDN/BOINC and 200 for SAH2, which is 1 hour to the first and 2 hours for the latter. It's easy to add time for each project. For instance 200 for CPDN and 400 for SAH2 should double the periode for each project. Would that be safer?

I am a CPDN newbie so please excuse stupid questions about timesteps, trickles, and other never heard of expressions.

I 'used' to have a trickle roughly every 8 hour, when I ran CPDN/BOINC 100%. With 1/3 of my cpu power there should be a trickle for me every 24 hour, or am I completely lost her. :-)

I hope I haven't lost 50 hours of work with a model because I d/l some SAH2 units?

I got the above message when SETI@home finally sent some units. BOINC stopped computing for CPDN and I get this message when I hit the CPDN update button:

climateprediction.net - 2004-08-29 23:07:46 - Deferring computation for result 00v7_300026108_0

CPDN and SAH2 are meant to share my computer. How does that work?
9) Questions and Answers : Preferences : My new version 4.05 stopped after 30 hours (Message 2062)

Post:
As a CPDN newbie I didn't notice that the 'watch' had stopped. I had already learned that computing seems slow compared to SETI@home2 so I didn't wonder until I hadn't got trickles for the last 24 hour or so.

Now I have marked 'Run always' instead of running according to preferences. Prefs ARE 'Running always' with some sharing percentages in case I am attached to several projects.

Is this a bug or what?

The only thing I ever did was trying to attach SAH2 to BOINC 4.05 as well, but as the upgrade at SAH2 to 4.05 is delayed I was detached after some futile time trying to download work units.
