As a Beta Tester, I'd suggests these messages be made a little clearer before being given out to the general public. They resemble the sort of diagnostics I write for my own benefit when developing stuff on a mainframe. |

Posted 8 Aug 2004 by old_user123 Post: Thanks, disabling the BOINC network did do the trick. It starts communicating again as soon as it can. PS, this message board is a shade confusing. I accidentally re-posted Ingelside's answer, sorry. |

Deferring Communication

Posted 7 Aug 2004 by old_user123 Post: I have Broadband, but I keep it switched off when I am not actually using it. (I know it would cost me nothing, but I worry about hackers who look for open links and also on-all-the-time machine that they can hijack for junk mailing.) The software doesn\'t seem to like this, giving me a string of messages like \"Deferring Communication with project for 5 hours, 54 minutes, and 43 seconds\". It just did this even though I am currently linked and it could have communicated. I also wonder what it is communicating about, since I already have a work unit running, 9% complete. |
