Check the model. Solid blue color and low tempereature. (Different colors may be from other computer))).

Computing must go on. :)

Hello!

May be my work computer have a one of "Slowdown model" - task 11000318 for workunit 6797232. Value in column sec / TS increased with growing number of computed steps. I only now read info about "icewords" and do not precise remember temperature in this model, but colors in "Temperature mode" is orange, yellow and near to north - green and blue.

Number of step continuously increased (in Friday it was ~ 187300 - 188000). Other results for this unit have a usual sequences of sec / TS ratio. Model now computing on Intel Core 2 E8500 @ 3.16 GHz and DDR3 memory. Without any overclocking. May be one of part of this model computed on Intel Core 2 e4300.

It's a "fail unit"? Or not? Whether there a "scientific sense" throughout calculations? (Computaion time and credits is not a problem for me. Science is more important).

Thank you!

And the same problem.

I have a two BOINC-hosts, with different <host_cpid> in client_state.xml, but with units, that requested from one physical host. When second host gets a 4 tasks, other 4 tasks of first BOINC-host became noted as "Client detached". Today (about 2 hours back), first host succesfully reported all 4 tasks as a completed task. (Taks reported from physical host, that get its).

But results state does not changed! My computaions is lost... My Tasks.

Hello!

In my results list I have a two results:
8211749
8199633

with \'Client detached\' status.

and another two results:

8205640
8217073

with \'In progress\' state.

All WU\'s referenses on host 927987, but it is not right.

In Nov. 25th I installed a \'clear\' BOINC on my host and take two CPDN-tasks. Now this tasks processed on another computer.

In Dec. 2th I installed on my computer new BOINC instance, take next two task and move it on third computer. Now all four task \'works\' on two different computers.

But project \'think\' that this tasks from one host...

Thank you!

The important thing about backing up is to make sure that no part of BOINC is running, otherwise the process may fail on backup or fail on restore. A second thing is to synchronise the backups with the checkpoints, which is much harder.

What Mike was asking the BOINC developers to consider was a cross-platform backup integrated into BOINC Manager, which they are unlikely to do so long as the majority of BOINC projects have short work units.

In any event - and this may be heresy! - the important thing is to prevent crashes, not fix them. :-)

For full set of backup and recover functions for BOINC need an integration with DBMS....

P.S. AND \"BOINC Backup Server\" Software for \"huge cruncher farms\"? ;D

Good evening!

May be this work not for BOINC developers. :-)
My BOINC run under WindowsXP and in last two hours I wrote this pair of batch files:
1. backup.bat - \"core\" of command that run backup of BOINC folder;
2. backup_start.bat - batch file which start backup.bat with parameters, which the user can change.

This files start WinRAR archiver, that in my (sample) case create archive with name like BOINC_2008-01-23.RAR in D:\\work folder and start BOINC Manager with --systray parameter.

BACKUP.BAT:
REM =======================================================
START /LOW /WAIT \"BOINC backup\" \"%~3\\WinRAR.exe\" a -r -s -m5 -rr5p -t -agYYYY-MM-DD %2 %1
START \"BOINC\" \"%~1\\boincmgr.exe\" --systray
REM =======================================================

BACKUP_START.BAT:
REM =======================================================
backup.bat \"C:\\Program Files\\BOINC\" \"D:\\work\\BOINC_\" \"C:\\Program Files\\WinRAR\"
REM =======================================================

Parameters:
1. Path to BOINC folder without \"\\\" on the end;
2. Template of backup file name. In this sample - \"D:\\work\\BOINC_\". WinRAR adds current date as YYYY-MM-DD;
3. Path to WinRAR folder.

If user have another path to folder they can simple edit backup_start.bat.
I create a shortcut \"BOINC backup\" to backup_start.bat (placed in BOINC folder) and before run it manually exit from BOINC Manager (do not know how to finish the application from command line :( ).

I like WinRAR (www.rarlab.com) because this have an impressive list of command line switches. If somebody will have questions - I shall try to answer.

Keep hold of that backup!

It should be possible to get them to upload to the servers from your machine, but first we need to work out why they weren\'t being sent.

OK.

Which firewall / antivirus / proxy server do you use on that machine? (if you connect via a large network such as a company or university, you\'ll probably be using a proxy server).

On each computer works Kaspersky AntiVirus 6. Computer from which the result was sent consist in a network with KenoRoute firewall (if a remember right). But in 20-x days of december 2007 from this computer I successfully send another large WU and \"all works well done\". May be problem in first, failed upload?

If all the trickles were sent in the last couple of days, i.e., when you returned the result, the most likely thing is that they\'re stuck in the trickle backlog (significant delays at the moment).

First upload (from home) - second half of friday (by GMT).
Second upload and reporting task (succesful) - first half of saturday (near the six hours by GMT).

Hopefully the project admins will be able to fix the trickle processing when they get back on Monday.

OK. Thank you! :-)

There are no trickles listed for that model (which is what the final credits rely on). What percentage had it reached?

Model is completed on 100%. In december 2007 my host receive one \"long\" and one \"short\" WU. After complete of \"short WU\" (about 400 or 500 hours) I transferred BOINC folder to home, but after fail of upload, copy folder to computer with \"fast Internet\" and send result to server.
Update: with \"fast Internet\" and \"poor benchmark\". :-)

Are there any \'trickle_up_\' files in the c:\\program files\\boinc\\projects\\climatprediction.net directory? (they might also be in a subdirectory).

After sending result to server this files were removed by BOINC or client. But in backup folder made before sending of result to server I see 420 files with names like \'trickle_up_hadsm3fub_f047_005916357_7_1198503432.xml.sent\'. Can I send them to you or another \"project leaders\"?

Another strange situation for this result: 7066728

Initially was \"claimed\" ~ 2600, but one day after \"claimed\" = 0 and granted = 0. Validate State = \"OK\"...

Hello!

After seven month of offline crunching (not my home computer) I post to CPDN server two results for this units:
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/workunit.php?wuid=1097389
http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/workunit.php?wuid=1099560

Now, for both results I see:
errors: Too many total results
validation: Pending
claimed credit: ~20000
granted credit: 0

Can I get a some credit after veryfing of this results? :)
