U. Oxford Physics shut down our sub-department\'s (Atmospheric, Oceanic & Planetary Physics) Internet access this morning, which effectively brought down our servers to the outside world. I still haven\'t found out why they did this!

thanx for the info. everything seems to be working on the seasonal website today. (edit) does anyone know why the internet access was shut down?

At first I wasn\'t sure if it was just at home or what, but connections were slow, and pages off the site not always loading...

However I\'m now at uni (University of New Mexico here), and over their several T3 lines which are hardly being used given it\'s a Sunday night and hardly anyone is here) I\'m actually having even greater trouble with half loaded pages and timeouts...

Thought I\'d alert someone, to, well something going on with either the servers or Internet connectivity to them... The connection to the CPDN board here has conversly been fine all day without issue from either place...

thanx for the info. i did notice the slow loading last nite when i tried to check the stats. this am, no servers responded for a trickle. hopefully, it\'ll be sorted out soon.

This may seem like a small milestone, but it\'s big to me. I just finished my first CPDN model, after 934:10:40 of crunch time on and off for the last year and a half (the client said I was nearly 182 days overdue!). Of course, I was also crunching other projects and finishing off SETI@Home Classic during this time, hence why it took so long, but... it\'s done! Yes!

Now I can reformat my hard drive tomorrow.

it\'s great that you stuck it out. congrats on your milestone! :)

6) Message boards : Number crunching : \"Too Many Total Results\" (?) (Message 20536)
Posted 20 Feb 2006 by old_user108617
Post:
I think that the \"too many results\" is the part that is used by other projects that use 3 results of the same data set for validating the wus.
cpdn sends back dozens of \'results\' for each wu, but they are called trickles. This confuses the server software.
And the \"validation pending\" isn\'t used here either, for the same reason: only one model ID for each data set.

Most of BOINC, both on hosts, and on servers, is for other projects, which are different to cpdn. We just use the bits that are needed, and ignore the rest.

ok, makes sense. thanx for your reply.

i\'ve turned in 3 climate models (2 sulphur & 1 slab). all 3 received full credit and had no problems running. however, when i click on \"workunit id\" for each workunit, it brings up the \"workunit\" page, and all 3 say \"too many total results\" and the validation is \"pending.\"

can anyone explain what this means?

if you look to the left of this message board, you\'ll see \"Teams\" listed in the blue border. click on it and it\'ll bring up a list. click on the first one which is \"All Teams.\" TEAM CF is third right now. when you click on TEAM CF, it\'ll bring up a screen where you can join. welcome and happy crunching! :)

If you sort the team\'s by total credit - you\'ll see we are still 3rd :)
but prob will go backwards as CPDN isn\'t getting priority here at the moment.

First, let me say that I am completely impressed by your credit count, that\'s real dedication. Second, thank you for taking the time to explain why our team\'s RAC is dropping. And, last but not least, CPDN is a great project to crunch!
