I moved from classic to boinc CP yesterday and got the starry globe working.

Today, however, I have hit 2 problems & don't know if they are related. The model seems to be running fine, but.....

1 When I return to the computer and turn on the screen again, instead of the desktop there is a blank blue screen with only the boinc icon in the taskbar. Have I inadvertently got this as a useless (because it shows nothing) screensaver?

2 Yesterday I got the visualisation but today, WORK tab - right click on WU - click on SHOW GRAPHICS, produces nothing at all.

Yes, your model seems to be running properly, and yes, the two problems are certainly related because the screensaver and graphics are the same thing. Personally, I would not use the screensaver because it takes too much processing power - just call up the graphics when you want to admire them. See this link.

You might find that all is well when you restart BOINC, but I won't promise it will not happen again.

You could make sure that you have the most recent drivers for your graphics card.

It is possible that your graphics card is challenged by the task. It doesn't need to be a particularly sophisticated one, but I suspect that the one you have may be a few years old. If so, your computer may be having problems coping with both running the model and running the graphics, though having said that it ought to work. The good news is that a new graphics card is not very expensive or difficult to install if that does seem to be the problem.
