We profoundly apologise for the disruption of the last few days to the project. We apologise for any lost workunits you have had during this period. Any workunits that were aborted during this period you will receive full credit for. This period represents an attempted rebranding of the project. Any future change on this scale including to the name of the project to be more representative of the research supported will be completed following significant testing to reduce impact. For the foreseeable future we will continue to use the name 'climateprediction.net'. Please use the project forum if you have any questions.

Thank you so much! Your team is doing essential work and helping to improve climate and weather models, which is undoubtedly necessary in the context of the global climate crisis to better understand the processes taking place.

@rebranding@ means two things
- Someone allowed a marketing drone out of their enclosure and even worse actually listened to them
- The organisation considers it's brand a failure.
Neither are positive.

No. It means the focus of the work CPDN now do is different to when it was first set up many years ago. It's moved from long climate simulations per se and towards climate impacts, energy systems and more. See the new website for details: https://climateprediction.net/.

Yes, everything has moved on. There is a lot more on the new website, notably the resources for schools. Thank you.

On 9/5/2024 I removed my account because of your "disruption". Up until then I was steadily processing 2 tasks per machine.

I reattached 2 days ago after seeing messages saying issues have been resolved.

Although the computers show on the website, I can't receive new work.

Why?

It would appear as though there are no new tasks at this time.

CPDN often has periods without any new work, a consequence of much of the work not being produced by Oxford but the project being paid to distribute the work by universities around the world who are doing the research. It is worth keeping an eye on the New work 2024 thread for information about new batches. Please don't use that thread for discussion. Periodically when it is abused too much, a moderator will clear out extraneous posts.
