I finally got some work units (HadCM3's on my old Mac), and I'm seeing download errors. I included the http_debug in the Event Log and I'm seeing an SSL cert issue.

I know one (maybe some) of the CPDN servers had to change physical hardware recently. That may well be the cause of the non-matching SSL certificate.

Perhaps one of the moderators can raise this with CPDN. Dave?

Will email Andy if no one else does first. (just going out.) I thought that the hardware move hadn't actually happened yet but may be wrong.

I know you've mentioned (in another thread) emailing Andy about the credit not getting posted. So I won't ask about emailing him again about this download issue (I think actually an expired cert issue). <humor> Are there any BOINC projects that deal with cloning? Or bi-location? I have some spare cycles I could donate if that would help this issue. </humor>

Thanks!

Also failed here on Ubuntu in a Virtualbox in Windows 11, but not the same error message. This virtual machine has only done two tasks before, and they were ok.

Can I assume the following is the project's fault?

I think this is the same issue that I posted about:
https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=9198

The web admin needs to install the certificate chain to the web server(s).

Perhaps the moderators can merge these threads or link them.

It's definitely not a certificate issue since HTTP is used.
Instead the files are simply not where they should be (HTTP status 404).

Hi Dave,

Thanks for this. This is now working.

Best wishes,

Andy

I haven't had any download issues so can't judge whether all cases have been addressed.

I don't believe it has. I'm still seeing the SSL certificate mismatch errors when trying to download. See the lines in bold below. This is with diagnostic log flag of http_debug selected.

ssllabs.com is also reporting a "Certificate name mismatch," for download.cpdn.org. https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=download.cpdn.org

BOINC's client_state.xml mentions this URL being one of the download URLs:
<download_url>http://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/applications//hadam4_8.09_i686-pc-linux-gnu</download_url>

Tried to download it using wget:

It seems to be in yoyo mode, going up and down. Here is my most recent descent into bad mode. It had been working, reporting no tasks available, for quite a while before that. Last good one followed by two (different, but sequential) bad ones.

Any emails back from Andy? I understand if perhaps he's on vacation. Or perhaps there are other projects going on that are taking up his time. And it looks like Hadley work units have been blocked from being downloaded for two weeks.

Thanks,

CPDN's main server was shutdown (old VMware server) so they were running solely on the backup server but now have new physical machine and Andy is busy installing the software and moving over the backups to that new main server. I'm sure he'll get to the certificates etc in time.

After being down for several days it looks like the main server is back up. The forums are up, users can see their accounts. AND THE CREDIT THAT WAS MISSING SINCE NOVEMBER IS NOW THERE! Woo hoo! Thanks Andy, wherever you are!
I'm still seeing the certificate name mismatch at https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=download.cpdn.org and so the downloads are still stalled. The server page shows that all the programs are down. So I guess we get to sit tight for a while. Stuff will get resolved as time permits I suppose.

Baby steps.

Bump. Downloads for HadCM3 short tasks still fail. Still getting the SSL certificate mismatch error for download.cpdn.org. And ssl labs still reports the same SSL certificate mismatch so it's not just my box. I think it's safe to assume this is affecting anyone trying to download from that server.

Thanks all!
