Message 68623 - Posted: 22 Mar 2023, 16:46:47 UTC - in response to Message 68622.

Any updates yet? Please forgive me if I'm being a pest.
As I posted elsewhere, the server software of the testing site has been upgraded to the latest version of the BOINC server code. Andy plans to upgrade the main site once the niggles are sorted out on the testing site. I hope some at least of the credit issues might get sorted at the same time but no specific news on that.

If there is any specific news, it should reach the forums pretty quickly so in the absence of anything being posted by Richard, Glen or one of the mods, it is probably safe to assume there isn't any news. (Saying that, sometimes work gets released with no warning or something does get fixed without an announcement but in that case, I would expect someone to notice and say something!)

I'm still here, and there have been some exchanges, and some assurances, but no conclusions so far.

We've agreed for the time being to wait until all the current server updates have been completed, and the test version of the new credit script has been transferred from the test server to the main server. If everything is on the same page, and there is a broader supply of data we can examine, it will be quicker and easier to isolate specific issues and remedy any that might still be causing problems.

One of the assurances I've been given is that all the historical trickle data has been, and is still, securely recorded in the project database - we can go back and draw on that if any gaps remain to be filled when the new processes have been finalised. And Dave is continuing to highlight specific oddities: one this morning suggested another possible avenue by which errors could creep in.

It's slow, but not forgotten.

More tweaking on testing going on. Andy must be doing overtime! There are a few more bits to sort out before the upgrade happens to the main site but there is progress since I looked earlier today.

Email sent to Andy. I have no idea what other jobs he has to do at the moment apart from the upgrade of the server software but as soon as the moderators hear anything from Andy it will be passed on.

I looked at the credit graph on my box for the first time in a while today and it looks like the credit script hasn't run since the weekend of the 26th March. This is on top of the trickles not being processed to produce credit for some task types. If it were just the trickles not being processed to produce credit, my average credit would have been falling each week but it has remained static since then. I will pop off another email.

Edit: If Andy is on annual leave we will just have to wait till he returns to read my emails before he has a chance to look at this and the mountain of other jobs.

Hi Dave,

Okay thank you very much for this. There was an error in the run, I have corrected it and have set to run at 11pm (UK time) today.

Best wishes,

Andy

Edit: Can't remember how long the script takes to run but if no change by this evening will message Andy again.

I'm assuming this is for OpenIFS tasks, not Hadley tasks, correct?

That is what I am assuming though I have emailed Andy about the Hadley tasks as well. However, as no credit has appeared even for the OIFS tasks, either the script is taking longer than I expected or it isn't fixed so even recently completed OIFS tasks don't have any credit yet. I am putting my bet on it not being fixed. Assuming no credit for the OIFS tasks by tomorrow morning, UK time, I will email Andy again.

My most recent tasks are like these; only the bottom one got any credit so far. The 1 APR and the 15 APR have not gotten any credit yet.

No new tasks, however.
Yes, my recent OIFS tasks have all got credit and my credit graph on BOINC has been updated. Not expecting any new tasks at the moment. My ones in testing branch won't finish for over two weeks. During which time I shall mostly not have access to my computer and will likely not be following the forums. (Will be back a couple of days before they finish.
