Huh, good to know it's not just me. I tried a couple Rosetta tasks on ARM this afternoon and they didn't appear to work in the slightest, I thought it was my system setup.

Sad that is when WCG is down and ClimatePrediction has no work except for a few MacIntosh ones.

Don't even have those any more. Maybe a reissue or two, but that's about it.

Summer is coming and I'll drop my additional heating loads off after this batch, I suppose...

It sort of feels like the era of distributed computing is dying off. All those "cheap" cloud supercomputers, I suppose.

My last set of tasks drained off from this particular lashup, and I think I figured out why my 4400S couldn't run things - I had virtualization turned off in the EFI config and didn't check that - I would have noticed the lack of 'vmx' in /proc/cpuinfo had I looked.

In any case, it's been a fun little niche to play with, and a good proof of concept for if there are more WUs of that variety coming at any point in the future!

In other words, light 'em up and let 'em rip!

Runs to the flightline and starts pulling the radial engines through, shoves a starter cartridge in the side, and jumps in!

My 6600K won't be participating in this round - it's going to a friend. But I've got some AMD boxes theoretically coming soon that should be useful, and I'm going to see if I can get my 4440S to properly join the party this time.

... though it seems that the file downloader is a bit overwhelmed at the moment, I keep having downloads fail and go to project backoff state.

See the discussion in New Work Discussion in the number crunching section for a workaround for the download problems. The best guess currently is that this is some change by Oxford Uni to their network which they neglected to tell the project about.

I know about the workaround. I posted the sed line. :p

In any case, at least a few VMs are now chewing away. I don't have quite as much hardware to throw at it... though should have some new stuff coming online soon. Probably after this batch of WUs is done, though.

Oh, I get it...

I have a new chip for one of my servers, 3900X (vs the 3700X in there). Four more cores, and 64MB L3 vs 32MB. But I probably don't want to disrupt these running tasks to swap it in...
