A few years ago, it was decided, (probably for money reasons), that each model type would only be supported in one OS.

The external researchers that used to run models that use Windows slowly "disappeared"", and now there's only a few people supplying work, and the model types that they're using only run on Linux.

So for the time being, there's only Linux work available.

The Applications page shows on which OS each type runs: Applications

[https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=9025#63462]this link[/url] has the details of how to run Linux tasks on Windows. (Requires Windows8 or later) There are other solutions using virtual machines that will work on older versions but would need some research or more knowledgeable than I to provide the details.

You could try using a virtual machine on computer 1190093. From using a VM for eight months on Win10 - VirtualBox 6.1.22 with ubuntu 20.04 - we'd recommend the minimum physical memory is 24GB, The VM wil probably need about 16 to 18GB memory with no more than 6 processor threads (cores). For six cores and six concurrrent cpdn tasks, the ubuntu VM virtual disc should be at least 60GB. Preferably on an SSD and size the VM virtual disc at least 100GB to allow for extra space when tasks crash and have to be manually cleaned (deleted) later. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
