A few things anyone joining this project should know about this.

Work availability is sporadic.
Historically there have been many periods of glut and famine.
There are a number of reasons for this but the main one is that the project does not generate the work themselves, rather it comes from universities all around the world, often associated with a post grad student's PhD but also from Post doc research. Having sent out batch(es) of work, Researchers then have to wait till a substantial amount of the batch has been returned and analysed before deciding which way to go next with their research so if researcher A sends out a batch of say, 9,000 tasks, it is likely to be two or three months, possibly more till enough tasks are completed for them to start the analysis process.

Other things that affect the flow of work include university term dates, PhD deadlines, hardware issues both at Oxford and at submitting universities and more recently Covid-19 may well affect work submissions and despite their best efforts Oxford's ability to send the work out.
