Thankfully, I am unblacklisted!

I believe I have narrowed down the issue of why my tasks are never able to finish. Virtually all of my tasks are of the ten-day variety. Unfortunately, MS loves to upgrade more often than ten day cycles. The other day one of my two computers running ClimatePrediction (CP) had to reboot for another reason. The CP task was lost, although there were about five more days required. The other computer that hasn’t rebooted lately is still running fine.

Also there are several CP tasks running at the same time, which, no doubt, slows them all down.

The concern is when my computer reboots why do I always lose the CP jobs and never any of the other BOINC ones I run (namely Universe and World Community)? They all restart just fine after a reboot.

Each climate model has a lot of data files open, all of which need to be saved before the computer shuts down.
Perhaps you need a faster hard disk.

I only rarely lose windows tasks due to shutdowns. But I run them under WINE from linux computers. Prior to shutting down when deliberate, I always suspend tasks and then shut down BOINC first. For me this always seems to work for Windows tasks but not always for Linux ones.

It is possible to change the automatic update installations. Search for it on the net, but you will have to be confident about making changes to ther registry.

Windows 10 version 1903 gives you more ability to delay when the update/restart will happen. These are set under the Settings app. Previous to that version, there was very limited control for Windows 10 Home users.
