I remeber seeing 64Gb modules a while back at about £500 a pop!! The first computer I was in charge of had two hard drives. Each the size of a top-loading washing machine. They ran @ 2400 rpm on three-phase power, and each held 40 Megabytes of data. Later, I had a job at a small development company and Motorola gave us a contract to build a system for them, but it had to run on one of their computers, so they gave us one. It had a 2 GByte hard drive (a 5 1/4 inch unit). That was truely amazing. Now a computer with only 2 GBytes of RAM might be used as a network controller, a printer driver, or some such thing, but that is about all. |

Each task uses at most 600 MB of ram currently. As Les says, it will come as a shock. The good news is that they won't download on a machine that doesn't have enough Ram to run at least one at a time. So my current desktop with only 4GB of ram won't download them. Also more will be posted closer to the release date of these tasks because, the memory requirements could go up or down but I suspect up is the more likely scenario. |
