I've had two downloads stuck in my queue for almost a week now

0% downloaded, and they just won't start

Is there something wrong with the DL server?

Tasks that make it to the download queue on your computer should show in the tasks in progress link under your computers page on the CPDN site.

https://www.cpdn.org/cpdnboinc/results.php?hostid=1332124&offset=0&show_names=0&state=1&appid=

Looking at it, there is nothing there between July 2017 and January this year so I think the best thing to do with those tasks is abort them. I presume the tasks from July last year and before are not actually running on your computer still and are possibly the result of a re-install of software and a subsequent merging of computers with the same name?

Looking at tasks running/ran on keputnam's computer it records many successful tasks completed since July 2017, last one 14th Jan.. So doesn't seem to be anything wrong at his end.

Thanks for the responses, guys

For whatever reason, both downloads have finally completed, and I have one task running (I use an app_config to limit to one task at a time) and three others queued and waiting

I'm not at all surprised. I'm not going to bother for a few weeks.

The wording of the last line in your messages should probably be: "project servers may be down intermittently and quite often. :)

I enabled some debug messages in the event log, and determined that the download server's domain is download.cpdn.org, and its IP address is 129.69.193.73. I then tried to ping it. The pings failed. The download server is too busy, is down, or is unreachable.

I have 14 WU's stuck in download limbo, "project backoff". All my trickleup's have gone through, it would be nice to get a little work.

Andy did say that he'll be working on the servers for a few weeks.

Is the problem back? I have a task that is stuck downloading.

77959	cpdnboinc	5/24/2018 6:51:51 AM	Started download of wah2am3m2_um_8.24_windows_intelx86.zip
77960 5/24/2018 6:51:54 AM	Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
77961	cpdnboinc	5/24/2018 6:51:54 AM	Temporarily failed download of wah2am3m2_um_8.24_windows_intelx86.zip: connect() failed
77962	cpdnboinc	5/24/2018 6:51:54 AM	Backing off 04:08:15 on download of wah2am3m2_um_8.24_windows_intelx86.zip
77963 5/24/2018 6:51:55 AM	Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

I checked the server status page and all is green, although it was last updated May 21. If it makes any difference, I am attached to the new URL, per the instruction in the BOINC manager event log.

TIA!

Did you back up your boinc data before attaching with the new url? If so you probably have that file. Also have any of the other files downloaded OK?

I did not have any tasks on that machine, when I switched. So nothing lost.

Yes, there are 5 items that are pending download. See Screen Shot.

I'm not surprised that the downloads are failing, as the old server where they would be is still in pieces on the workbench, so to speak.

Set the cpdn part to No New Work and join the "Waiting for the project to start work again" queue. There's a lot of us. :)

Okay. I will abort those downloads, and set to NNT.

Just so I am clear, what URL should I be attached to for when things start working again? The old one or the new one?

There's no official information about this, but we assume it will be the old one,
and the new one will revert to being the mirror / backup server.

At the moment, all the new one is good for is posting, and checking the Project Status page. Where I notice that the transitioner is running again.

I see that the server is trying to send out those antique Hadam3p_eu from batch 470 again. These were released on Nov 16, 2016! I have one stuck about half downloaded. I Will abort.

But cpdn trickles is not running though perhaps that is just reflecting reality as trickle ups haven't been working for me for ages.
