New Work and Old Preferences.... Seems to me to be the latter - previously preferences still in-play. Event log says: climateprediction.net | No tasks sent climateprediction.net | No tasks are available for UK Met Office Coupled Model Full Resolution Ocean climateprediction.net | No tasks are available for UK Met Office HadCM3 short I.e. only 2 projects mentioned, despite showing others applications queued on the Project Status page. (HadAM4 at N144 resolution, N126 resolution. I'm running Win 10 64-bit.) How can I subscribe to all applications again, short of creating a whole new account? Incidentally, I tried to see if resetting the still-visible preferences to defaults would help, but CPDN replied with its usual condescending wrist-slap for daring to experiment ;-) climateprediction.net | Not sending work - last request too recent: 472 sec Cheers, Luke |

The only work available at present is for Linux. There hasn't been any Windows work for a while now. You can see what OS each type is for from the Applications page. The "preferences" part of choosing the type that you want to run was been disabled, as part of the change to how the work is made available, a few months ago. Now computers are sent whatever is currently available for the OS that they're running. This was discussed in this thread: Preferences - project options missing |

The only work available at present is for Linux. #849 3,500 WAH2 Tasks for East Asia region 50Km resolution, 24 month tasks. Poured into the hopper just 45 minutes after you posted Les. Edit: With the number of computers looking for work some with 40 cores or more they won't last long. |

Got one but eleven cpu's are idle. I can see that work is available. Some kind of quota system? |

It's probably just BOINC, which starts off with one or two to see how these long tasks fit in with the short tasks from other projects, and then it builds up the work. If your computer was exclusively running cpdn, then it would get the maximum number that you've got set, because it doesn't have to juggle the workload of long and short tasks. |

The only work available at present is for Linux. That information became obsolete half a day ago. There's now 2 thousand or so Windows tasks. And this could be obsolete by tomorrow. The only way to tell what's current, is to keep an eye on this page: Project status |

The only work available at present is for Linux. #850 and 851 Two more batches of East Asia models, 3,500 in each. Last one at ten past one this morning UK time but going fast. Last server update at 0745 showed 2206 left. Edit: For those new to CPDN those were windows batches. |

Yep, as I predicted, those Windows tasks have all gone, so it's back to Linux only. |

#852 3150 tasks HadAM4 N216 (The ones that need plenty of level3 cache. These will checkpoint a bit more often than #842 did meaning if BOINC is exited for any reason, your tasks don't start again from the beginning if less than about ten to twelve hours on a slow computer. (Like the one I am typing on.) |

My N144s that worked were all 809. the one 808 I got crashed. All my N216s were 8.53; the first one was from 17 Oct 2019, 6:34:33 UTC that completed 9 Nov 2019, 14:18:39 UTC that shows how slow (or fast) my 1.8 GHz Xeon processor it. They certainly checkpoint more frequently than the, send trickles. The most recent checkpoint was about an hour ago, but that does not prove much. |

Thank you. After a while, I got all twelve. Caught me napping because even in winter I cannot crunch all twelve simultaneously. Heats up. Any idea if there are Windows tasks to be released? After eight years, I was surprised at how fast they went. I seem to be missing Mo.V? Regards. |

To get less tasks, set the percentage of processors to a lower value. 50% will give you half as many. This option is on your Account page at the project. The projected release time for ALL work is "in the future". Mo. V isn't active on these boards these days. |

For those Windows users waiting for a WU, like myself, a short giggle just to make you smile. Has nothing to do with not having enough work for the available Win systems,,, BUT.... If you look at the Application page the versions of Window OS's supported by the various application has never been updated to include Windows 10. Example Weather At Home 2 (wah2) Platform Version Created Average computing Microsoft Windows (2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8) 8.24 3 Nov 2016, 14:42:42 UTC 10,943 GigaFLOPS Bill F In October 1969 I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; There was no expiration date. |

And then there's this: When will Microsoft bring the successor of Windows 10? |

8,000 Pacific North-West fire-related simulations at 25 km have just been added - and another 10,400 in batch #855 (batch list). [Edit: Batch #855 now increased to 10400.] |
