I was happy to see that the N144 run OK on BOINC 7.20.0. That is not true of all projects, due to the new security settings.

I am on 7.20.1 and haven't had any problems. Which projects cause errors?

Rosetta/Pythons and QuChemPedIA that I know of.
But you are on Windows. That is an entirely different security arrangement than Linux.

Plus another 2 one of which has failed 3 times before - libraries in one case file system in the other 2 (Science United and two anonymous users).

Query: Should anonymous users be allowed?

Should there be (or is there) a mechanism to block machines that have frequent failures?

Science united users of course, unless they sign up separately via the CPDN website will not be able to post on these forums. My own view is that SU machines should be blocked but I will give this a little time to see if other views are around before suggesting it to the project.

Peculiar. I am not being able to get WU's. Could someone check as to the why so that I can rectify it? Thank you.

I probably depends on what the message says, when your computer asks for work.

looking at your Linux computer your computer shows,
Memory 0.95 GB

By the time you take off overheads, that won't leave enough memory to run tasks.
When you update the project, post the following half dozen lines from the log. (<tools> ,event log>0 This will I think confirm the diagnosis.

If you are running Linux in a VM, the solution is to allow the VM more memory.

Thank you, Les and Dave. Yes, it was a memory problem.
I had reformated and due to no work, I did not load VM.
Solved. Running bare bones Mint.

Latest batch of HADSM4 on testing site all completed without issues so that is looking like the most likely next source of work.

Still no windows work? :-(

Oh well, for those interested, WCG is sending out Africa Rainfall tasks. They run on 1 CPU core (in Windows, don't know about other OSes) and take 16 hours on a Ryzen 9 3900XT and 4 days 6 hours on a Xeon X5650. Server not up to full speed yet, so you may need to pester it for work, but they only have a 2 minute backoff.

hadam4h? I have looked up applications. This "h" seems to be new. Predicted days to completion, 103 days. Any ideas? Whatever it will be fun.

Could you post a link to that task? I'm curious but haven't been able to find it.

Batch 932, hadam4 at N216 resolution if it helps. 5 month runs. 103 days is very high - mine are taking about 16 (i5 processor).

It won't take 103 days.

New machine/BOINC install? That's about what the N216 tasks are estimated to take on "default" performance numbers, before benchmarks have been run. After a while, BOINC will run the benchmarks, and any new tasks downloaded will have a more reasonable estimate, but the ones already present won't update to the new estimate.

It should take 15 days or so, depending on your hardware.

Good to know that it will not take up to 103 days :). It was something new.
Les, the person who completed that task, might not be paying much attention.
Thank you.
