Yes, I managed to grab 2 of them. Unfortunately they are on the wrong machine. That machine is already running 3 of the very long wah2_sam24’s. They all still have three to six weeks to go. I need them on one of my other machines that has 2 empty cored that I am running a backup project on. |

There are 4000 units for East Asia at 50 km at 18 month duration (batch list). And another 8320 being prepared for the hopper as I type. And batch 788 has now started filling the hopper. |

Batch 789 just over 8,500 tasks for South Africa region have gone in hopper. Not on the batch list yet or at lease weren't five minutes ago. Edit: also batch 790 for the same region. HIASA SAfr 50km domain actual runs (the 2nd case study) 30 IC 2016-12-01 and 125 perturbations per IC (restart) The goal is to study February 2018 heavy precipitation in Zambia, Zimbabwe and southern Mozambique (for BAMS 2018 special edition). Subsequently was extened to November 2018. |

Batch 789 just over 8,500 tasks for South Africa region have gone in hopper. Very interesting. But are they Windows only? Or to put it another way, are the HadAM4s the only new ones for Linux? I have a new Ryzen 2600 build that would like to know. |

They are WAH2 tasks so Windows only I am afraid. No information yet on when the next HadAM4's are coming. Rest assured that if I or other moderators do learn anything, it will be passed it on as soon as possible. |

Very well. I can just start it out on Windows (suffering the indignity of W10), and convert it to Ubuntu later. It is not at all clear the timeline for when HadAM4's are coming. |

The Windows tasks run fine under WINE on Ubuntu, I have a couple running at the moment while I wait for some native tasks. |

Just managed to get 4 new tasks. They are the Wah2_safr50-... Its says they have a runtime of approx 30days. My question is, are these models restartable. In other words if I get 25 days into a model and there is a power cut... And I lose the 4 models its a waste of effort. ta Nairb |

[Nairb wrote]... My question is, are these models restartable. In other words if I get 25 days into a model and there is a power cut... The model saves intermediate files as it runs - "checkpoint" files - and these files should allow the model to continue after a PC restart. Sometimes the models won't restart from the checkpoint file and will fail, but usually the models are fine. |

I have tried without success. Don't know of anyone who has succeeded. |

I have tried without success. Don't know of anyone who has succeeded. Thanks. It perhaps is unlikely, but on the other hand you can run two BOINC instances on Windows or Linux. I now do it routinely. But as between Linux and Windows, there are probably other issues involved. (But I don't intend to find them). |

I would guess it would using one manager in the same way as managing a remote host as well as managing the client that it normally would, however I haven't attempted that so my geek score is not going to rocket any time soon. |

Lately when one of my 10 Windows and/or Linux computers fails or the power drops, no worries. Restart works OK. Work not wasted. There have been models that some people here say failed after restart. Maybe so. But for me -- not an issue. Keep crunching. |

One of the w/u has crashed with Signal 11 received: Segment violation. It did manage 3 days before having a fit. No restart during that time.... Wonder how the others will do!! Edit: 2nd one failed with "Signal 11 received: Segment violation"... maybe a memory issue?? |
