There hasn't been an update to the Mac release of the WAH2 v8.12 application that fails to produce trickles, so the credit issue for Macs hasn't come back so much as not gone away. However, your machine has an excellent record of completing WAH2 models - and, on the Mac, credits are now allocated on completion. One model finished on 23 August and the previous one on 12 August, so I would guess you have another one just nearing completion.

The "Average Credit" figure is calculated from trickles and will therefore tend towards zero because no trickles are being produced by this version of the WAH2 application: however, credits are still being awarded at intervals.

Just to confuse things further, the number of credits awarded on a Mac for completion of WAH2 models is different (and slightly higher) than for other platforms - e.g. 9,900.12 for the EU25/13 finished on 23 August, compared with 9,890.90 on Windows/Linux.

Are there any news to the "mac app issue" ?

I've just had a reply to the email that I sent:

The project people are working hard at trying to understand why the new Mac version behaves as it does, and then to fix it.

The script will be manually run until such time as a working version of the program is released.

Spent considerable time on a project...no credit, reset, and then said that my project had actually been completed on August 27...it's now September 24!

Sorry...major credibility gap here. If this computer has to work on this project, it doesn't work for free while burning energy that has an impact on the climate.

The Mac application does work and full credits are allocated when the model is completed. The only problem with the Mac application is that credits are not awarded while the model is running.

Not quite sure what your gripe is.

If you're still following the thread, the credits have now been allocated for the model that was completed - wah2_sas50_l4bi_200012_13_449_010725970_0. No credit will be awarded for the aborted models since credits on Mac are currently awarded only for complete models.

The model was completed on 24 September 2016. The August date quoted is the deadline for the model which is actually in 2017, so the model completed well within time.

Note, however, that the RAC for Mac machines will decay to zero, since no trickles are produced - even though credits are allocated on model completion.

The IT people are somewhat busy at the moment with "things".

It’s not that the people than run this project don’t take Mac’s seriously, it’s that they don’t take credits for any of the platforms seriously. When a credit script gets broken it is given a priority of somewhere like -100,000,000.

Your Mac record is here. It has a really good completion record and the credits have been awarded.

What specific problem is affecting your Mac?

I put in a request for an update about a new application version last week, but as has been noted, credits ARE being awarded for models.

If it's about general problems, that's the University upgrade that's going on, which affects everyone.

Here's a novelty: Mac trickles! The new 8.24 release for the Mac appears to have fixed the missing trickle problem.

(All models from batch #561 on my Mac have crashed near/at the first trickle with "SIGSEGV: segmentation violation" but the other batches are doing fine.)

Looks like the same error at the same point as in Linux.

I've had a look at the tasks of the original posters, and those that have v8.34 tasks are also showing trickles, so Hurray!

I had run a job that took over 40 days to complete (total elapsed time) that completed several weeks ago but I have still not received any credits for completing this job. This was around the time that a message was going out about a different URL or something - I don't remember the exact wording of that message.

The average work done has been showing as 0.00 - should this be a higher number?

I am running on a MacBook.

I'm afraid it will be bad news on that model. Though the bug has now been corrected in the latest version of the Mac application, there was a bug in earlier Mac applications that prevented them producing the regular "trickle" reports back to the server. Credits are normally allocated based on the number of trickles reported. Because of the Mac bug, credits for Macs are allocated on successful model completion.

Your Mac has a number of successful completions for which credits have been allocated. However, the most recent model crashed with an error. The model's Zip files will have been uploaded until the error occurred and they contain the actual science.

The "average work done" statistic is calculated from trickle-based credits so it will be zero for any Mac running the old application version. When new work is available for the Mac it will hopefully use the fixed application and things will return to normal, including RAC and allocation of credits for incomplete models.
