The export files were last created on the 8th May.

The last new credits showing at BoincStats are from the 6th of May. At least for me.

Maybe I misunderstand, but, according to Willy, the those have already been imported.

I guess I was a bit too cryptic.

This is our stats dump:
Index of /cpdnboinc/stats

So there wasn't a run last weekend (15th May), so no one will have any changes on any of the stats sites after the 8th May.

Looks like there wasn't a run this week either (considering the files are all still dated 5-8). :-P

Any book makers putting odds on how many weeks *this* problem will take to fix?

There was a stats run yesterday, as shown by the graph on my machine(s). Can't speak for external stats sites.

The stats don't seem to be getting out to the stats sites (at least not BOINCstats and Free-DC). At BOINCstats, the most recent retrieval was today at 14:10:02 UTC, but it included no credits. The last non-zero update at both sites was on May 6th (and for the same amount of total credit).

Les advised staff but I doubt any attention will be given to this problem until operational (database and server) issues are fixed -- and stable.

Any current projection on when CPDN will start providing updates to BOINCstats again?

It doesn't really answer your question, but there's something a little more recent on credit issues, in general, in the Total credit thread.

Just to be clear on this:
Nothing is known by the moderators about why the files aren't being updated, or when that'll start happening again.
I've asked a couple of times, and I don't intend on doing so again.

Credits are not the end all do all for some of us. But that said they are a positive re-enforcement that effort gets results that can be measured. Possible mew contributors who don't understand the history of or politics involved with the project may not join when by appearances a site can't figure out how to run a daily script to export stats.

As we want the project to grow and improve image is an aspect that needs to be considered.

And to add salt into injury, Gridcoin may consider removing CPDN from their whitelist as ext stats are not updated daily (or regularly), hence no gridcoin awards to CPDN crunchers. So this might further push users away from CPDN. And it seems ext stats is an issue for the last 1/2 a year with CPDN.

Do we really need new members. Right now we have all the people we need to run all the work the project provides.

well, do not know about new, but from 620k hosts CPDN has 12k active last month. I read somewhere in the CPDN sci papers, that the project needs around 20k-30k to run smoothly. Last year we had for months not enough (or properly set) Linux users to crunch the MOSES II TRIFIDS WUs, and in the end they were pulled out (for some reason)

Though not sure about the paper figures, I believe the stats is something basic, that a project should provide to users for whatever reasons. (I mean the credit certificate works, though its value may diminished, but stats are used for various things). During the last year there have been few users that left the project and wrote to the lists about some rather chronic issues with CPDN - stats being one of them.

I don't remember the details, but I think the large batch that was pulled was because they saw that tasks weren't getting run as fast as they'd hoped, and they had sufficient results back to get an idea of what ever they were looking for.

As for credits, that's not a core product. And there probably won't be much activity there whilst the move to new servers is under way.
And it's the weekend.

Of course the project is the priority, what I'm saying is that stats and credits should be properly dealt with as well. Though not core product they are part of the project as well.
I hope with time "It is weekend" will be used less and less :)

Regardless of their reasons for crunching (making money vs altruism) having more crunchers accomplishes the project's goals in a more timely fashion. And, considering that BOINC in general has been suffering from a declining user base, I'm okay with providing an incentive for new users even if I would not do the same (crunching for profit).

This is a good discussion of views regarding credit as an incentive. Why the Stat's export can't be automated like most other projects is puzzling. Manual export on a periodic basis is still more work than an automated script.
