Message 53735 - Posted: 22 Mar 2016, 9:55:30 UTC

I sent an email early morning yesterday, UK time.

I guessed you would be on the case Les so decided not to send an email. I have been checking my tasks and all the newer ones have no credits granted for trickle ups yet despite having a number of these sent so it looks like it is falling over at the first hurdle.

if i may attempt to inject some levity into the current situation:

- old rule of thumb in Data Processing (or IT, as the youngsters call it now):
"Everything Takes Longer Than It Takes"

- back on 10 Sep 2014, the credit calculations went haywire in the other direction, and i printed out my certificate...here is the best part:
"and has contributed 1,713,935,902,786 Cobblestones of computation
(1,480.84 sextillion floating-point operations) to climateprediction.net"

sadly, the credit calculation was fixed in a couple of days, and our credits
came back down to Earth. But for a week or two, we were really rolling...

From Andy,

Credit now running again, fingers crossed. He is monitoring it to see what happens.

I'd be happy just to get back the ~47K that were deducted from my acct last week. (grin)

That is quite funny, the current situation isn't nearly as dramatic but still annoying to people.

FWIW my total hasn't changed even a bit, though it ought to since tasks have been grinding away and lots of trickles have uploaded--successfully by all appearances.

So restoring the "stolen" 100k credits plus the bounty "owed" re: tons of work completed will look pretty impressive when done and said. OK not nearly as far out as sextillions, but a lot more than the total that's reported now.

Any case, not going to hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

Just to say, Andy who deals with this has been informed and doubtless will be looking to see why the script didn't work today.

I too am not being given any credit for the 4 current climate prediction tasks that have been running and trickling up for the last 4 to 6 days on my aspire win 10 computer. I post this as simply informing whomever that there are still more bugs in the system somewhere. I am also missing at least 116k of credit for completed tasks since creating this account. Credit for tasks to me is an added bonus, my purpose to help save the Earth from its self by volunteering computer time to this project amongst others. As we all know, from time to time, projects run out of work units to send.
Smiling regardless of credit status,

Vicki.

As predicted Andy is working on it.

Thanks, yes the script failed. It ran for 24 hours and 12 minutes and then gave an error message. I am looking into it at the moment.

Tasks which had no credit assigned to them despite several trickles having been sent now have credit. It hasn't reached my computers or account yet but definite progress!

And the next part of the script to update user details is now running.

Edit: Has now completed and my credit is back where it should be as far as I can tell.

What's going on?
On March 15th I lost 38,094 from 408,013 to 369,919.
But now today it dropped again to 172,289 - another reduction 197,630!
Next week my total credits will be negative?

reklov, Loren

The answer to your questions are further down in this thread.
Which has now changed focus to talk about the recovery.

With special attention to one of my posts about:
How credits work here.

I just checked and my “user total” seems to still be about 300K short of pre-outage levels.

My Tasks lists for both computers have had updates to various models, my total on my Account page has decreased again by just under 1.2 million from the first drop, but my total on the Top participants page hasn't changed from the initial drop value. Which was a drop of a bit over 900,000.

So either the scripts haven't finished, or some haven't worked.
I'm waiting for the big test: what BOINCstats says for the next "day" on their list.

But there HAS been more emails about this, so it's a matter of waiting for Andy to start his next day at work.
