I don't use my laptop much these days, but leave it on 24/7 to number crunch CPDN tasks. Or that was the idea. I decided to check the laptop out this morning, only to find that both tasks had crashed, and each had put up a dialog box and were waiting for me to click on OK. Apparently they had crashed two weeks earlier. The obvious problem here is that everything grids to a halt until the OK button is clicked, which isn't going to happen if the laptop is unattended. Is there any way to do away with this pointless message box and just leave the details in the event log? Brian |

Brian, Brought this to the attention of staff. Thanks for the suggestion. "We have met the enemy and he is us." -- Pogo Greetings from coastal Washington state, the scenic US Pacific Northwest. |

Not sure, but I think that a service install of BOINC will allow these to fail silently. |

It would help the developers if Brian, and anybody else who observes this problem, could either capture a screenshot of the error message before dismissing the dialog box, or transcribe the full contents of the dialog. From earlier reports describing these errors, it usually appears to be a data error, so being able to identify the task name, and the faulty file name/details, would help considerably. |
