I learned that I will be getting a new computer soon here at work. How do I go about backing up the current workunit and transferring it over to my new machine? Thanks in advance. |

It is possible: Backup your C:\Program Files\BOINC to a safe location (thumbdrive?) Install your new computer, and copy the backupped BOINC folder to C:\Program Files. Then install the latest version of the BOINC core client. All attached projects will still be there, including the work-units and they'll be processed from the point you stopped the old computer. If there were no changes in the project-apps, everything will work right away. |

There's discussion about it here. I'm not sure whether anyone has yet returned a completed WU to the server after such a process, but because of the length of CPDN models there is an accepted need for the facility. |
