Message 4232 - Posted: 17 Sep 2004, 6:41:35 UTC

I\'m on timestep 87548 of a work unit and it seems that my trickles aren\'t showing up on my stats page. Under computers on the stats page, it says my last trickle was 2004-09-17 03:41:59, but when I click on it, it says no trickles.

Anyone got any ideas as to why this might be happening?

I\'m running version 4.05 of boinc and hadsm3 4.03.

Thanks,
Andy

In Your Boinc-Dir, 2 files may tell You what has happened.
stdout.txt and stderr.txt are the 'logfiles' from Boinc. If Your Machine has been restarted the present logfiles are renamed to .old, but only one step back. If You want to preserve previous logs, You will have to rename the .old files before restarting Boinc.

However, every time CPDN trikles it calls the CPDN sceduler: (snip from my log)

2004-09-09 22:15:19 [climateprediction.net] Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
2004-09-09 22:15:23 [climateprediction.net] Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded

Please check Your log to see if the scheduler actually replied.

If You find that the Internet connection has not worked, don't worry, just fix it, and the first time the CPDN Client successfully reports to the scheduler, all Your trickles will be reported in one go.

Hope this helps.

Here is a something from my stdout.txt:

2004-09-17 18:56:27 [climateprediction.net] Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
2004-09-17 18:56:30 [climateprediction.net] Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded
2004-09-17 18:56:30 [climateprediction.net] Project prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults

It looks like my connection is good. Also, on my stats page under computers, it says that last trickle was yesterday, but when I click on the link, it says I have no trickles and no credit.

Thanks,
Andy

I don't like the last line of Your Log, because this indicates that this is not a 'trikle poll', but just an Update Poll. To try an update poll, open the Projects tab in Boinc. Second on the list is Update. Do that, and You will see this kind of log. Btw. try one if You haven't done so already. It might help.

best of luck

Ok here is on from my stdout log:
2004-09-18 20:21:46 [climateprediction.net] Sending request to scheduler: http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi
2004-09-18 20:21:51 [climateprediction.net] Scheduler RPC to http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc_cgi/cgi succeeded

I also tried updating the way you suggested and everything seemed to work ok.

Thanks,
Andy

It looks to me like a server-side problem. One for Carl or Tolu.

I agree on this, because clicking on Mohinator's name and then Computers will show that (at present) last trickle was 2004-09-19 03:21:09, but still the system shows no trickles.

Mohinator, at least it shows that Your system is reporting OK, so You will have to wait for Carl or Tolu to look at the problem.
I am sure they will find a solution for You.

Best of luck

it looks like a "phantom workunit" i.e. one of those that could have happened right before the launch when there was a bug in the BOINC feeder? You're probably better off just resetting this workunit as there is no information on it here.
