If I close a maximised visualisation it re-opens as a full-screen window which can only be resized using the keyboard. Stopping and restarting BOINC sets it back to the default settings.

I get worst here. I tried the same thing as you. Bad news for me ... BOINC didn't crash but I lost 36 hours of works.

I did nothing to restart the new simulation.

CP dev-team : The scheduler received the failure status but if you need some files of this simulation, most of them are still in my BOINC\\projects\\climateprediction.net directory. Can I delete them ?

Hmmm. Sounds like BOINC might not have closed the model down cleanly :(

I got into the habit of suspending execution before I exited BOINC during the alpha trial because I was occasionally losing models in a similar fashion on start up.

The problem is ... I didn't even tried to close BOINC GUI. This had occured when I tried to open a new graphic window after I closed the minimised one.

That's *really* strange. Tried closing visualisation when it was minimised to the taskbar. Reopened as minimised (so it looks like it's always opening at its last state/position) and now I can only have it maximised or minimised. Until I restart BOINC, of course ...

I have seen this behavior, what I do is drag the window down so I can grab a corner to resize it (you may have to click on the middle "maximize/std size" box to get to the appropriate "non-maximized but big screen" to move the window).

I guess the one drawback with having an "all-in-one" app that does computation as well as graphics is that if the graphics crashes it forces the model to crash.
