Just this evening I started getting 9/21/2014 11:17:00 PM | climateprediction.net | [error] File hadcm3s_7.24_windows_intelx86.exe has wrong size: expected 784384, got 59745 I assume that BOINC is trying to download a new "short" executable and failing? (I've already placed my BOINC Data Directory in my anti-Malware "ignore list") |

If there are no models running, which appears to be the case, then do a project 'reset' (in the 'Projects' tab in BOINC Manager). That will clear out any existing downloaded applications and new versions will be downloaded afresh next time models are fetched. |

Just this evening I started getting It is more likely that something else - like a heuristic or reputation-based component of you anti-malware suite - is intercepting or truncating the application executable before it gets anywhere near your hard disk - so simply excluding the directory from scheduled scans may not be sufficient. Also, an even more thorough way of cleaning out stale application files from the CPDN directory is to detach from the project and re-attach - that deletes everything, so that you can be sure that the only files you have left are the ones you really need to run new models. |

A user 'Bryan' has just reported on the BOINC message board - Trojan Detected by Bitdefender - that hadcm3s_7.24_windows_intelx86.exe is being blocked by, well, Bitdefender. Running it through VirusTotal says 10 out of 54 antivirus programs are flagging the file as suspicious. I still think it's probably a false alarm, but not with the eight-nines confidence level that Dr. Who Fan is offering. |

I've placed the executable itself, as well as the entire BOINC data directory in my excludes list, but am still getting the checksum error Any further thoughts/suggestions? |

I've placed the executable itself, as well as the entire BOINC data directory in my excludes list, but am still getting the checksum error Guessing a bit here as I have been Windows Free this century. In the thread linked to below (or above) depending on your settings the possibility of the file being truncated when it is downloaded is mentioned. If this is the case, you need to change your antivirus settings to not check the cpdn files while downloading. THIS WOULD OF COURSE BE AT YOUR OWN RISK! |

My usual workround for this problem is to download the file manually via a browser. You can use this link: http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/download/mirror.php?file=/hadcm3s_7.24_windows_intelx86.exe That way, you can deal with any malware popups interactively - but in my case, Norton File Insight has given it a clean bill of health. Few Users Once you are satisfied that the file is safe and intact in your download folder - the size should be 784,384 bytes - copy it to the \projects\climateprediction.net subfolder in your BOINC Data directory, replacing any damaged/truncated version that may be there already. |

Thanks, Richard The manual download worked - only after I completely shutdown AdAware!! |
