I have the above named error window which returns almost as soon as I clear it. Is it a problem? Progress is now shown at over 5% in 1 hour 20 minutes (i7) but no CPU time has registered yet and of course no checkpoint.

Does anyone know of this problem? Is there any point in continuing to run the unit? Is there anything I can do? Should I abort?

Thanks

Mike

Message 50168 - Posted: 15 Sep 2014, 3:43:26 UTC - in response to Message 50167.

It has now finished with a computation error and the next has started with the same problem.

Yes, it's known about. Been around on and off for years.

There are quite a few threads about it by now, so perhaps if you do a search.
Not that there's any solution.

edit
And one of the threads about it is 3 posts below yours.

... one thing I've just realised (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) is that these messages appear only for non-service BOINC installations. In order to avoid a BOINC bug with a recent version of the PNW application I changed all my installations to non-service. And then started hearing again from our old friend "Visual Fortran run-time error". In other words the conditions that cause this message would cause the same eventually fatal error in a service install, but silently.

(NB My experience of "non-service install" and PNW was that it's the "install for all users" selection that made the difference. Deselecting the explicit service install wasn't enough.)
