I am tring to set up boinc on lab machines with multiple users. user have to log on to the machines to use them. thier indivdual profile get uploaded for our domain server.
i was wondering if boinc can run when there isn\'t any one logged on to the machines which the case 90% of the time. i can\'t seem to set my preferences to do this. i hve set my prefernce to run all the time but it seems boinc only runs when the user is logged on. an ineffeicent use of the computer.

You can install it as a service (can't help you with the how sorry), which will let it run as soon as it's turned on without logging in.

To install as a service on windows xp/2000 (any windows actually). Open a DOS window. Navigate to the boinc directory. Type 'boinc_cli -install'. That's it basically. You will most likely need to change the permissions of the boinc directory. You may also want to use the windows service manager to change some settings. You will need to remove the gui from the start up list, if both run at the same time it will cause problems.
