I had a hard drive failure which meant I had to reinstall Vista. I have all my projects up and going except CPDN which keeps failing to attach. Is there something wrong? I see the upload server is down but I don't think that has anything to do with this. Peter Toronto, Canada |

It's being discussed in this thread. There's a couple of ways back in at present if you have a copy of certain files, but you have to read back through it a bit. The "server down" is just the part which displays that message. It's actually running OK. |

All I can gather from all that chatter are 2 things... 1. The problem seems to have arisen since CPDN adopted their new web page and BOINC is using an incorrect URL to attach. (I've looked everywhere on the website for the correct URL which is usually shown on any project's main page, no luck) 2. A command line has to be used in the BOINC data folder. Well unless someone spells it out how to do that for dummies, I'm stuck. I'll add this to that thread and maybe you can lock this one? Thanks for the info. ;-) |

OK here's what I did, this is in Vista SP2 x64 Exit BOINC. Open an elevated Command Prompt. type in cd c:\program files\boinc (to change directory) then enter boinc --attach_project http://climateprediction.net yourlongkeyhere and hit Enter. After a while the CMD will stop streaming new entries. Click the "x" at top right and it will eventually exit and BOINC will close. Simply restart it in normal mode and things will work as usual. |

Meanwhile there are a few tasks from the 24th May that are showing in progress in my account that actually were lost when the drive failed. I assume they'll eventually be absorbed by the CPDN system. There were also several before that which failed and had to be aborted. Maybe just as well I had to reinstall everything, now a clean slate. Let's hope things work as they should! ;-) Peter Toronto, Canada |
