For about a month this project has been out of work units, but only says "Communication deferred 1:00:00" and then counts down before repeating. I have tried "Update" and "Reset Project" but they did nothing. In desperation I have tried uninstalling Boinc and removing the "\Program Data\Boinc" directory before installing the latest version of Boinc (7.0.28 x64) and adding this project, all to no avail. How do I get this project to download and start running? |

The best way to do that, is to wait until the project has more work. :) Server Status page. P.S. As far as asking for work is concerned, pressing the Update button just resets the (count down timer) / (project backoff timer) to 1 hour again. If you let BOINC "do it's own thing", then, when the timer expires, you'll get a message something like "project has no work", as well as the "deferred" message. This and download/upload problems have several threads in the Number crunching section. Also in that section, at the top, is the News and Announcements thread, where moderators post message about these matters when there's something that everyone should know about. That thread, like all others here, can be Subscribed to. Backups: Here |

Ok... the server status page says there are 0 WUs ready to send, which would explain why I also keep getting deferred. So, the more interesting question is when should we expect more work to become available? |

Les posted in another thread that it was a few weeks till the next batch of hadam3cn tasks would be released though there was a thousand or so the other night. Didn't know about the regional models which are much shorter. The work depends on the researchers who pay Oxford University giving them the data to convert into work units and this seems to be erratic. I imagine depending on things like phd schedules etc etc. I guess the short answer is that we just don't know. Batches of models apart from resubmissions when a computer running a task has crashed the task or aborted it seem to come mostly in batches of 15,000 or so at once. However even this does not guarantee getting a task because there are so many computers waiting for them. Saying that, I did get one of the small batch the other night. If your computer is running 24/7 get some work from another project that you deem worthy and sooner or later you will get come work from cpdn. I choose other projects with much shorter work units - maximum length of 40 hours on my atom, much less on my desktop machine. |
