Shutdown Boinc to carry out Chkdsk and A/V scan. On reboot the model starts again at 0.00% (now 0.10%), time to complete shows 6 digits in hours, a figure which is constantly changing. The same model number is still being processed which prior to this problem had completed phase 1 and trickled twice on phase 2. Attempted update on three occasions without success. No error messages shown.

Can\'t see a similar problem posted anywhere. Advice would be appreciated.

I see from your account data that you have two CP work units. One of them is in phase one, the other in phase two. Which WU are you talking about and are you sure it's not just a fluke? (Try a reboot of the system)

The WU in question is 17554 on Host ID 3723. I tried a reboot but it resumed where it had left off currently at 0.48%. The graphic shows that I am processing Phase 1 again from the start instead of phase 2.

Bear with me I am still getting to grips with the terminology.

Hi Bass,

There's no way back when this happens :(

CPDN has totally rewound the model, possibly because one of the files it uses to determine where to restart the model was missing or corrupt. It's impossible to tell the exact cause as everything has been overwritten.

One last thing. Although the model will continue to upload trickles you won't get any more credits for it until it gets to timestep 32406 in phase 2 :(

Thanks Thyme Lawn, I'll just hope that the same thing doesn't happen again at the same point on the replay.

Message 3694 - Posted: 10 Sep 2004, 9:01:07 UTC - in response to Message 3657.

I am concerned that I may be processing garbage on this model after the rewind to zero. Progress is now showing as 2.20% and time to complete 12,975 hours. The first post rewind trickle is showing up in the stats with a sec/timestep figure of 95.xxx instead of the normal 3.xxx figure for this host. Any further help appreciated.

You're processing fine. It's just that all the time you've already spent on the job is counting against you :(

Your CPU time is registering as 1,029,703 secs at the repeated first trickle but you really need to discount the 985,770 secs you did up to the last of your phase 2 trickles. So you've really only done 43,933 secs this time round. The time to completion will come down over time ;)

Thanks for the adequate explanation. I follow the logic now. Bit of a downer, 10 days crunching all to do again before earning any more credits on this model :(
