hello,

Is it normal that the unit that I calculate will take about 15% of a dish of heart?

I assume you're referring to the CPU-usage. I see you're using a i7 860, with hyper-threading turned on. You're using 8 cores. 100%/8=12.5% I think that is the CPU-usage you're seeing per core. And yes, that is normal.

If I understand you correctly, your only seeing 12~15% in the Windows task manager. CPDN and most other BOINC projects crunches the math in a single thread and therefore can't distribute the workload across multiple processors. So if you're running a single task, you'll only see 12.5% cpu usage (although it will actually be 25% considering your Core I7 hyperthreading). If you've set your BOINC preferences for 100% "of the processors" then you should see 100% cpu usage when you have eight BOINC tasks running.

Edit: Beat me transient! :)

Just a follow-on question to Core I7 owners: with four BOINC tasks running and hyperthreading enabled, does one see 50% or 100% cpu usage in the Windows task manager?

Based on previous experience of hyperthreaded processors, Windows treats the hyperthreads as if they were real processors, so four tasks on an eight-hyperthread CPU would show as 50% CPU utilisation.
