Hi, everyone:

Yesterday, I installed the very new Windows 7 Service Pack 1 beta on my Win7 64 bit machine. Installation took about 1 hour and went off without a hitch. Everything, including Boinc and ClimatePrediction seems to be work fine. Before starting, MAKE A BACKUP OF ALL FILES, including the Boinc folder in Programdata folder, JUST IN CASE.

I know that we have not been backing up the Famous models very much because most crashes are caused by internal instability in the models themselves, but, when doing major surgery on your computer like installing an SP you need to do a backup just in case.

P.S. To anyone still using XP who hasn’t install SP3. Support has ended for SP2! Your computer is at risk. That means that unpatched security flaws on your machine will remain unpatched. Because so many people are still using XP it is still a prime target for hackers. They are still looking for flaws in XP and still writing exploits like viruses and worms.

The solution is easy. Just install SP3 and run Windows Update. It’s easy and the vast majority of people have not problems.
