Message 39832 - Posted: 3 Jun 2010, 11:39:19 UTC - in response to Message 39830.

Most, but not all, of my recent tasks are showing credit as 'pending' - see, for example, http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/results.php?hostid=788878.

CPDN has an unusual (for BOINC) way of awarding credit: every task is updated once every 24 hours to reflect the interim trickles received.

I suggest we all just wait and see how this turns out after the credit run due tonight.

'Preview' and 'Post reply' are showing correctly as buttons, but other items ('Edit', 'Reply', 'Quote') are showing as bulleted lists.

CSS problem?

Hello Milo. When I go to my account web page and -> view my computers -> then view my tasks -> I "see" that before the recent sever outage, it showed my workunits -> as success -> now showing as -> Completed, can't validate -> for example Workunit 6702275 -> are the servers web pages still updating ?

I'll be looking into all the points raised here as soon as possible, but there are still quite a few things to deal with and so they might not get done immediately.

I agree that we'll have to see how the credit runs go overnight.

The 'Author' column on the message boards seems to be centred vertically against the post, rather than top-aligned.

Looks odd for long posts, such as crandles' post before yours in the news thread.

Rather than laboriously updating cpdn.css, might it be a good idea to apply one of the already-updated themes? CPDN Beta is nice.

[BTW most of the menu disappears when typing a post.]

For some reason it looks horrible and would still need lots of editing.

Ah, too bad: I can see it's changing anyway.

One feature lost is the model name that appeared as a 'tip' when the mouse cursor was over the model link in a tasks list. I used that a lot.

[I like the addition of BOINC Manager version for each host, previously buried in the stderr field (which isn't always there). That provides a useful bit of diagnostic information.]

Toggling the column label to show names or ids appears to be a standard feature in other BOINC projects - like the top Show: "All/In progress/..." selections.

Hoping to see interim credits appearing after the overnight update!

I don't see any technical reason why BOINC couldn't adopt *both* techniques - sure, toggle to show a complete list of names can be useful, but a quick tooltip for checking a single name is helpful at other times.

show_user.php generates the following pair of errors:

Warning: Attempt to assign property of non-object in /var/www/boinc/projects/cpdnboinc/html/user/show_user.php on line 81

Warning: Attempt to assign property of non-object in /var/www/boinc/projects/cpdnboinc/html/user/show_user.php on line 82

The current server code has added a user cache to cut down on the number of database accesses required, but the show_user.php code suggests that the data caching is failing and every subsequent attempt to access the page for the same user (e.g. my account) picks up uninitialised data from the cache and generates the error

I seem to be having an odd problem and I don’t know if it’s at my end or yours? A notification in the “Projects” tab says that I have an trickle pending. It also says “communications deferred” for 18 hours 4 minutes. I never noticed this before. I have an always on connection to the internet and “network activity always available” is clicked. Trickles usually upload to the server immediately.

Is this a problem on my computer or is it a server problem? Why are my communication with the server deferred for nearly a day? By that time I will have several trickles backed up.

It would seem the credit run didn't fix it.
I uploaded & reported last night, just before the credit run and have been and still am at Completed, can't validate. Now that model also sits at "Too many errors (may have bug) Too many total results" while all the ones that were finished before were finished correctly.

It's a server problem, the database has been down a couple of times. Without database, you can't trickle up. But that doesn't matter, BOINC will try and try again until it can. Even if it has to send multiple trickles in one burst, that's fine.
