This is npt a request for help; I\'ve already solved my problem due to advice given earlier. It is instead an attempt to alert BOINC to a problem that thy might not know exists.

As noted in \"All Versions\", the 2010 version of the Task Manager can destabilize an operating system. After a fairly bloody (and successful) recovery from an attempt to use the 2010 system, I had two active processes that were appently healthy except that one was sending trickles, whereas the other process thought it had no connection with which to send trickles--and it hadn\'t sent trickles for over two weeks.

If a process is vampirizing 50% of your time but not reporting results, that isn\'t good, so I aborted the process--and my problems are solved.

For the larger user community, the obvios solution is to get the 2010 system so that it does not destabilize any user\'s operating system. BOINC is already working on that, so there is no need for additional action. This post is simply an attempt to alert them to the quality of some of the \"repair jobs\" that happen in the field in the hopes that it will help them track down bugs they are already looking for.

I\'ve no idea what a \"2010 version\" is, but \"Task Manager\" is Windows, so that\'s a MicroSoft problem.
This isn\'t the BOINC forum, and the BOINC developers are unlikely to be reading this forum, so posting here won\'t them.

But at least you\'ve solved your problem.

I think Terry means 6.10.56 on this page, though as Les says this isn\'t the place to post about it.

In any event, there will always be a development version of the BOINC Manager, which by definition will always be a bit of a risk. If you don\'t want to take that risk then use the recommended BOINC version at the BOINC home page.

Terry, did you look at the graphics of the model you aborted before you got rid of it? If you did, were its graphics normal and showing all the colours on its globe?
