After several years, I have reactivated my CP project and have noticed that not all of the items checked \'YES\' in my CP preferences are being used for the screen saver. For instance, I have CLOUDS specified, but the screen saver still shows the basic display. I have adjusted the display in the BOINC manager by pressing CRTL+C as specified in HELP, but that only lasts while that specific display is showing. If I were to close the display and open it again it reverts back to the basic.

I am using the current BOINC software (6.10.18) running under Windows 7 (64-bit) on an Intel Core2 Quad 6600 processor.

Is anyone having a problem similar to this, if so how did you correct it>

Permanent changes to the display need to be made in the 3rd set of preferences on your account page on the server. They will take effect the next time that the manager contacts the server. e.g. By clicking Update.

PS
<Control + C> was disabled in BOINC some years (and BOINC versions ago), as it was considered a \'security hole\'.

The 3rd set of preferences on my acount page are the ones that I am having a problem with. Even though CLOUDS are apecified, it is still presenting the basic display.

Does anybody know the answer to this? I found the thread on a search and am having the same problem.

My preferences are for clouds but I\'m still getting \"potential vorticity\" as the screen saver when it starts.

Would appreciate any suggestions!

Neither Model on your laptop sent a Trickle yet. Are they being allowed time by boinc? (The P4 hasn\'t been heard from for about seven weeks.)

Otherwise, it is as Les noted, above. (I\'ve seen default to Temperature but not Vorticity; no explanation for that.)

I have the same problem. Ever since I started running the AM3P’s my model’s graphics have been opening to a black wireframe display. This happens now in all model types. Preference (in “my account”) is set to “clouds”. Pressing “C” will still bring up the clouds display.

There was a bug in the \'new\' graphics that caused one of the expected display modes to erroneously display as Vorticity. It must still be there. And it looks like it\'s the Clouds option.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. The P4 hasn\'t been running for a while (7 weeks or so) but that has clouds as the screensaver. I just installed BOINC on the laptop so it hasn\'t done much work yet, I clicked update to get the settings from the server but the 2 models it is working on are both at just under 1%.

Is there any way I can fix the bug to get clouds? Potential vorticity is nice and all but I\'d prefer clouds as my screen saver! Pressing C in graphics shows clouds for me too - it is just the default that I can\'t change.

We must report this to the programmers but first we must get all the details right per model type.

* The side-panel needs to have Press Control + key changed to Press key.

* HadSM obeys my preference (clouds) in the graphics pane but not in the screensaver (instead it shows temp).

* HadAM3P obeys my clouds preference neither in the graphics pane nor in the screensaver (instead it shows pressure which was my previous preference).

Do these model types behave differently for other members?

Could someone with a HadSM MH model please change their preference to clouds, update CPDN in Boinc manager, then test the graphics pane and screensaver.

We must know which model type you are referring to.

On hadsm3mh, changing the default \"scene\" displayed to clouds in the cpdn preferences, updating boinc and restarting it, the default graphic that comes up when displaying graphics is clouds.

Making boinc the screensaver in the same situation, the screensaver comes up with clouds. Of course pressing Ctrl when the screensaver is on, just interrupts the screensaver.

The same things happen with hadsm3. I don\'t have a Windows hadam3p handy to view.

I just remembered this thread and tested my hadam3p an hour before it finishes. <Phew>
Setting the prefs to Clouds causes the display to show Potential Vorticity.
