Having both hadsm3 and hadsm3-mh selected, and the server status page showing thousands of both types --

Is it likely a server problem or do I need to do something to the BOINC client?

It\'s likely a problem with your client. Can you post the messages from the BOINC messages tab that show the work request it\'s making?

I couldn\'t download a new model yesterday when I thought I should have been able to. In Boinc Manager > Advanced > Preferences I increased the work buffer and immediately got one. I don\'t know why that worked.

Check also that you have no CPDN models suspended as this would prevent Boinc from requesting new work.

Eirik, check which model types you have selected in your account preferences. I think \'no jobs available\' sometimes means no work for the model types you\'ve selected.

on BOINC 6.6.31 (on another machine) I get this slightly less informative message

Tue 03 Nov 2009 10:43:23 AM CST	climateprediction.net	Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
Tue 03 Nov 2009 10:43:23 AM CST	climateprediction.net	Requesting new tasks
Tue 03 Nov 2009 10:43:28 AM CST	climateprediction.net	Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
Tue 03 Nov 2009 10:43:28 AM CST	climateprediction.net	Message from server: (Project has no jobs available)
Tue 03 Nov 2009 10:43:35 AM CST Suspending network activity - user request

but get no new work in either case

Verified that hadsm3 and hadsm3-mh are enabled in preferences

OK, I double the work buffer from 1.4 to 2.8 -- still not getting any

Also checked the debt in client_state.xml but it is all 0.00

OK , did shutdown - backup - restart on the two boxes that can\'t get work
increased to buffer from 1.4 to 2.8 days
verified that models are selected
Verified ( and forced) all debt to 0.0

still no download

Plan is to sleep until about 0:00 Z

And then try again

Thx,

E

I too am getting no work for one of my cores that has run out.

Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
Requesting new tasks for CPU and GPU
Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
Message from server:(Project has no jobs available)

Have recently got both hadsm3mh and hadam3p units.
Running 6.10.17
Everything selected.
Increased work buffer to two days still no change.
Core down over 12 hours now.

A message has been posted somewhere Milo will see, so he should pick it up tomorrow morning.

It seems to be a general problem rather than some individual preferences issue.

I am now running my backup project (Cosmology) which has downloaded and is running happily. GPU project, (Milkyway) is also running happily.

I changed the use GPU option in the advanced settings and also got tasks straight away.

I have now got a model of the required type: two requests provoked a red \'no work\' message, then third time lucky. Perhaps something has been fixed, or perhaps I should have waited a little longer before.

[Edit: it is apparently an intermittent Apache/BOINC server problem, which should now be fixed.]

Reporting successful download here also -- got a new hadsm3-mh on the one machine and 2 hadsm3 on the other.

Thanks for the suggestions and also for whatever was done on the server(s)

Cheers
