When one is subscribed to a thread are new postings in that thread not supposed to go out to the subscribers email? The only time I see new info is when I come to the boards and have a look. I have been subscribed to the News and Announcements Thread for some time but have never received an email from it.

I've subscribed to this thread and am checking what you say.

Later edit: I didn't have email notification enabled in my account when I made this post and didn't receive a notification.

Another test.

Later edit: I enabled email notification in my account before making this post and received an email.

Though the spam filter on my PC e-mail client never traps CPDN messages, I do find that my e-mail provider's spam filter does. I occasionally check the Web mail version of their service and re-train their filter by marking any stalled CPDN messages as 'not junk' (they don't have a 'still not junk' option). Perhaps it's that.

This BOINC board does work differently to the PHP board, where a post to a thread automatically sets up a subscription: here you have to explicitly subscribe - and the subscriptions appear as a list at the bottom of the index page.

It does work for me, but only when I enabled email notification in the Community Preferences section of my account. It isn't necessary to update CPDN in BOINC Manager to make this change to take effect (which one has to do for certain preference changes like model selection).

If you have email notification enabled and someone sends you a private message via the forum you should also receive an email to tell you.

Correction to what I said earlier in my first two posts above. I in fact received no notifications for my own posts, but did receive an email for Iain's post ie a post by another user. This is how it's supposed to work but it only will if you've enabled email notification in your account.

It does work for me, but only when I enabled email notification in the Community Preferences section of my account.

Thanks. I have now enabled that function.

When you come onto the main page of the forum you also see a list of your subscribed threads at the bottom. This avoids having to hunt for them when you can't remember where they were.
