Hi I get the following crash several times during the run with at least two CPDN programs, and the run fails to finish. Only started happening in the last month or so. Any ideas? regards Visual Fortran run-time error --------------------------- forrtl: severe (38): error during write, unit 8, file C:ProgramDataBOINCprojectsclimateprediction.nethadsm3fub_kgjj_005986226tmppipe_dummy Image PC Routine Line Source hadsm3_um_6.07_wi 0064C8A2 Unknown Unknown Unknown Stack trace terminated abnormally. |

Did you make any changes to your PC in the last month or so? Any changes in anti-virus or anti-malware software? |

This does not directly answer your question. Most of the people running CPDN do regular backups of the BOINC folder, so if a process crashes, it can be easily restored and continue to run. I do a backup about once a week, or every 10 model years. Naturally, CPDN/BOINC must not be running when the backup is taken. |

I have a similar Error on Vista x86. No changes besides the latest critical Windows updates. |

Niles, make sure you've excluded the Boinc and Boinc Data directories from your AV scans. Or only allow these scans after exiting completely from Boinc. In some cases that stops these popup messages which don't usually crash the models but are a real nuisance. Cpdn news |

I have the same problem with my brand new Windows 7 PC. The message appears and I can\'t get rid of it without rebooting. it seems to appear when the Boinc screensaver starts Climate Prediction. I\'ll try excluding Boinc folders, if I can find them, from the AVG scan. N.B. This does not happen on my Windows XP PC. |

Hi Steve Excluding the Boinc folders from AV scans has been recommended before and is a good move anyway though there\'s no guarantee it will eliminate the Visual Fortran message whose cause as far as I know hasn\'t been identified. I don\'t think Windows 7 can be the cause as I\'ve occasionally seen this error with XP. If you think the error occurs when the Boinc screensaver shows CPDN, what about using a different screensaver altogether or none at all? You can still view the model graphics in Boinc Manager when you want to see how your model\'s progressing. Cpdn news |
