Hallo !
I have to change my operting system from W2KP SP4 to WinXPP very soon, but i´ve to crunch the running CPN task for more than 2 weeks continuesly. So I can´t wait for finishing this task. Is there any way to start this thread under the new OS ? And how do I manage this?

Many thanks for your help in forehand!

Martin

Yes, it is quite easy. Stop your CPDN model and make a backup to an external disc, or USB stick or whatever.

Install Win XP. I am sure you know this already, but when installing XP, take the opportunity of re-partitioning the disc prior to installation, so that it is a really clean install.

Reload your BOINC files. Restart. Everything will run just fine.

Copy off the complete BOINC folder(s)
5.x has all in a single folder
6.x has them in two different folders

Install new OS (good idea to format and start over most of the time)
Copy the files back to the same spots
Install same BOINC 5.x or 6.x over the same directories
If you are on 5.x and want to upgrade to 6.x, upgrade after the installs

If you used a CD or DVD to copy the data off, remember to turn off the READ ONLY on the files and directories.
