I think the beta test machines may be the most affected, since that's when the feeder bug was present (I think it was discovered/fixed right before the "launch"). I'm hoping it won't be too bad though.

My stats site appears unaffected by this as far as I can tell. So it seems you must have an XML file with the correct totals on hand. Could you maybe import from that? Of course any work done after that file was generated would still be gone... Ah well, I'll just go back and sit in my corner quietly :) I'm not even running CPDN right now because I had a motherboard die on me and am waiting for a replacement :(

I don't believe that I've lost any credits but my team stat page is wrong. Some people are missing and my credit is low on that page.

yeah if you have a stats dump from last Thursday or so that would help us cross-check. the problem isn't really "lost trickles" but beta runs primarily that seemed to have "lost their parents" due to the feeder bug that was giving some odd user/host id's matched. So the "incremental credits" that would have shown up over the course of time in the XML stats are probably more reliable than the "regenerating everything from scratch (i.e. trickles)" that I have been used to. Shades of last year's launch when I changed credit-reporting-systems 5 times a day! :-/

I've lost about a half of my credits - my first model went wrong after the 9th trickle suddenly when CPDN changed from BOINC 4.03 to BOINC4.05. And the stats now are countung only the current model (also on trickle No.9) :(
P.S. My signature still isnt changed - 1285 and my profile shows 680
EDIT: Already changed :(((

did you merge machines, it also appears that the merging feature makes it a very bad idea for us to ever run a "rebuild credits from trickles."

Yes, I did merge but I dont remember if it was before or after the previous model went wrong :( (if it does matter at all)

Can you 'un-merge' them and count up trickle stats Carl..? I don't mind re-merging my machines, it's only a few mouse clicks...

Now ~30,000 in the hole. (Chuckles.)

Yep, Alpha & Beta tester and merged machines.

There is another issue with machine-creation & merge. Through some bit of strangeness, in Beta, three new machines were created with no work assigned. Trickles accumulated on the new ID's from runs existing in the physical boxes prior to the immaculate conceptions. They ran that way for ~4 days before reseting for the Public Release. Then a merge and everything for the orphaned trickles went away. (They were apparently not credited anywhere anyway, as the boinc.dk site shows a deep valley for me for that time.)

I'm sure this is related: I was just checking my account info an hour ago when I realized that all my trickles/credits disappeared. I did a few refreshes of the page and they slowly started coming back. I'm happy to say everything seems fine once more.

I did a merge of machines when I did an update and I too have lost a lot of credits.

As long as the info that I've generated so far is good for CPDN then OK but I'd hate to think that my electricity bill was in vain.....

For reasons I don't understand, we seem to be bitten in different ways -- beyond merged machines, etc. Some lose everything, some lose and then regain. Some lose a little, some lose a lot. Some lose trickle records, some lose records of entire runs.

I seem to have all but about two or four Models listed but all of the earlier ones now show up to mega-seconds of time but all granted credit went down the tubes.

To this old programmer, this episode says there was no routine back-up of the files. Not good. One hopes the results/science files are not similarly vulnerable.

If nothing else, this flap puts the overall value of stats/rank in perspective.

I lost well over 10,000 credits today. Maybe more? :(

What the sense for staying w/this project, BOINC-ClimatePrediction, if this is going to happen?

Damn, and I just got my multiprocessor system up and running for the BOINC-CimatePrediction project.

I wonder it I should we go back to the old classic ClimatePrediction program????

==========

Well I've been biting my tongue over this, I only lost 2000 Credits but 2000 Credits is still 2000 Credits...I'm not happy at all with it at all but what are you going to do about it.

If I've learned nothing elso about the new BOINC Projects I've at least learned 1 thing...I Expect to lose Credit at any time whether the Project is Beta, Alpha, or Live...Thats seems to be the way life is with the BOINC Projects, gain 10,000 credits and give back 2000 credits ...

OK I merged the missing credits from a backup, so things should be back to normal or pretty close. I am not going to fiddle with credits from now on so things should be safe now!
