Install as a service and then you will be crunching without the manager. The other option is to wait for v6 to be released.

I have not had a problem running this as a user when BOINC is not set to run at start-up. Just say \"allow\" when the somewhat annoying Vista Pop-up that you apparently can\'t teach asks you if it is OK to run the program.

O.T.
Disclaimer -- This is a \"how to\" and definitely not a recommendation.

\"Annoying\" is a charitable word for the ubiquitous Vista pop-up when one wants to actually use the OS to DO something.

It can be turned off. That is done by going to Control Panel/Windows Security Center/Other Security Settings/User Account Control.

Of course, Vista gets bent out of shape whenever someone perdiddles one of its security settings. The complaining pop-ups can be defeated in the Security Center by changing How Security Center Alerts Me.
